Wouldn't spend your time looking for a bargain. I'd spend your time looking for a nice one. £4 - £5k should buy a nice one. I paid just under £5k for mine. Got a decent one, bodywork is almost perfect, but it has the odd little niggle with it.

Yes yes, I remember the girls in the bus. But to be honest, I doubt they'd look if I was driving a Cavalier or something. Where in SA are you planning on going? It's large country. Would steer clear of J'bourg and probably Durban. Would stay towards Cape Town if I were you.
