  1. Okay everyone! The moment I've been waiting for!!! Little teaser shot of the paint. I fell in love with this color when I saw it in person last year at Cruisin' OCMD. Any guesses!?
  2. Progress has been slow this year with wedding planning and moving. Making progress on the home, it's livable but a fixer-upper. Maybe I'll start a garage build thread too! Once things settle down a bit this fall I should be able to get working on the Z again.
  3. Hey guys! Sorry it's been awhile! Getting married next month, and bought a house back in July. I've been working mainly on the house. The garage will have to wait for a little while. Updates so far. Body work is coming along, no rush since I'm not ready for it at my new place. The TBO sideskirts didn't have that great of fitment and needed to be modified for perfect fitment. Antenna hole welded closed and roughly smoothed over. Passenger side is all done! Next is the driver side quarter and hatch/spoiler.
  4. Thanks, definitely a solid 40 hours. I can probably get that down to about 25-30 once I start doing more
  5. All finished and heading to the UK! Hope some of you get a chance to see Team Japspeed in action!
  6. I have an Everlast DX200 Inverter Tig. I was using 3/32" filler w/ 3/32" (2.4mm) 2% Lanthanated Tungsten. It really was tricky trying to weld the .080" sheet to the runner plate which was 1/4". I had my frequency set pretty low so it does make for a larger bead. I probably should've bumped it up to 80-90 to narrow the puddle a bit. Welding the .080" runners to the 1/2" plate was a bear! I'm trying to redesign it a bit so I don't have to put as much heat into the flanges as I needed. Maybe a raised lip where the runner meets the flange.
  7. No offence taken at all! The manifold is all finished! Welding on the fuel rail mounting brackets was a PAIN!
  8. I'm not a trained welder for sure! I picked up my Everlast 200dx tig welder last year and this is my 4th project dealing with aluminum. Never welded before, but I'm determined; I feel like I'm making good progress considering I have no previous welding experience. I used the foot pedal 100%, I have pulse options on my machine which really comes in handy. I admit my welds are definitely not the prettiest but like ruishy1 mentioned.. I've seen a lot worse as well. They are strong and I do my best to make them look presentable. I'm very proud of my work, and I am always open to hear everyone's opinions whether it be positive and negative. Can't learn and grow without both!
  9. Just about there. To Do List: Weld Injector Bungs Fuel Rail Mounting Throttle Cable Mount
  10. Thanks guys! These are custom made to order. I will not be stocking them, but I will definitely be making them upon request (with a downpayment lol) Some more progress pics: Beads are getting nicer and nicer. PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE! It's starting to pay off!
  11. These are custom made per order. I work with my customer to get them exactly what they want :)
  12. Here's the VH45 intake manifold I am building for Team Japspeed over in the UK. My intake will probably end up looking very similar to this.
  13. Here's some progress from tonight... made the angled throttle body neck from a flat piece of aluminum. All welded up..
  14. Awesome Lexx, It's great to hear people are actually following my projects :) Sorry for the crappy cellphone pics... Upper plenum is welded on. Just need to close up the bottom, attach the throttle body flange, injector bungs and fuel rail mounts.
  15. Got the passenger side flange all welded up last night. Note to self... don't drink coffee while TIG welding lol caffeine makes ya hands shakey! Got the upper flange welded as well. Then machined the runner mouths.
  16. No, that intake manifold is for a customer out in California, USA for his Nissan Titan. This is the intake I am building for Japspeed, how'd you know Lexx?
  17. So she is still at the body shop. Here's a little preview of what I've been working on lately... Intake manifold for a Nissan Titan VK56DE...
  18. Made some progress on the Z this weekend. Got the fenders and hood in place. All the gaps are perfect and square. Passenger side fender it in primer... installed the hood pins, anad repaired all the dings in the hood. Started fitting the side skirts. Hopefully the front end will get done this week!
  19. I had a torque plate for the VH45DE made. Although it doesn't pertain to this build just yet... I thought you all would enjoy some machined metal goodness ;) It is also available for rent!
  20. Length is just right, another 2mm shorter and they wouldn't have worked lol! I don't have them stocked at the moment, but I can get them in quickly. If you are interested just shoot me an E-mail or PM
  21. Hey John! Love your Z! Whenever I get discouraged about my swap, I just go watch your youtube videos! The rubber is just a tad smaller in diameter than the spark plug hole. Shouldn't make much of a difference unless you decide to pressure wash your engine bay... Then there might be a problem if your coil covers are off! These coil packs also pack more punch than the OEM VH ignition coils. From my research 20kV vs 31kV. I'm working with Wiring Specialties to come up with New VH45 engine harnesses and sub harnesses. As well as a sub harness that will be a plug-n-play for the VW ignition coils.
  22. Found some ignition coil packs from a VW that actually fit under the coil pack covers. They also don't need the adapter plates. They are more expensive though since I need to import them. Not sure what will end up being more affordable in the end.
  23. Thanks sir! A little more progress with the intake manifold. Smoothed out the runners. Before: After:
