  1. Trying desperately to get my car back on the road... having a bit of a nightmare! I have misplaced a plenum bolt. Is anyone able to provide a spare at all? It’s one of the normal length bolts - not the short one. Thanks!
  2. Have got plenum off at the moment so was going to do those bypasses as well. Been doing some research... Am I right in thinking that if I bypass both plenum and turbos I could essentially just bung the 4x 6mm pipes coming from the 2 hard lines feeding the heater matrix at the back of the engine?
  3. Also... I assume it wouldn’t matter if I just did one side? Or should I bypass both turbos at the same time even though there’s no leak from that side? Could you suggest specs for the hose and a good supplier? Thanks
  4. Ooh, was wondering about that but had read something that suggested that the cooling was needed. Definitely sounds easier than pulling the gearbox out!! Where would I bypass from? I can see where it joins one of the hard lines behind the plenum. But where is the other ‘end’?
  5. Hi, I recently had a water leak from a small rubber hose just above the passenger side turbo.... I’ve been struggling to get at it for ages now. Have taken plenum off and I can now just about get my hands to the hose, but there’s no way I can get the clip off and get the hose out. Have tried everything! From the top and from below, but no luck! Bought extra long pliers... nope... ugh! I could get to it if I could remove the downpipe I’m sure, but how do I get to the bolts holding g it to the turbo? Or would it be easier to take the box out? Seems stupid to take it to bits so much for a weeny little hose! Anyone got any good how to’s for removing the down pipes? Thanks
  6. Yeah, sounds like we’re talking about the same hose. I can only just see the bottom of it, and can get my finger tips to it but that’s about it. Does seem to be the wettest bit around it so guess that’s the offending part. AC connections and wiring harness are in the way to get to it though - especially with my ham fists! Can’t imagine how you changed it with everything still there! Hmm, how easy is it to move the harness out the way? Guess just disconnect the blocks under the dash and feed it out the firewall? That might give me enough room. Or I might just have to bite the bullet and pull the plenum off.
  7. Hi all, I seem to have developed a coolant leak. Only noticed it once parked up this morning and saw steam coming from left side at the bottom of the windscreen. Only seems like a very slow leak, I can hear it dripping onto something hot, I guess onto the turbo. Car hasn't overheated or anything. I've had a good poke around and I cant really see where its coming from. From under the car I can just about see the end of a ropey and damp rubber hose on the passenger side as it goes into a hard line which looks like its part of the turbo. I cant see a thing from above. The hose is just above the passenger side turbo, almost between the turbo and the gearbox bell housing. Question is how on earth can I replace it? Looks like it'd need the turbo off, or gearbox out to get to it? Has anyone got a good picture showing coolant lines in that area? I'm hoping its just a rubber hose, but had to replace one of the metal pipes just behind the plenum a couple of years ago as it had corroded - that was a pig of a job. I had heard that you could possibly bypass the turbo coolant hoses? Typical it happens the day before MOT!
  8. Hi, had some weird noises from rear wheel. Took disc off and bits of metal fell out. Looks like one of the spring clips that holds the shoes steady has disintegrated. kimd of hard to explain but there's one per shoe, it looks like it holds the shoe against the hub. It's a pin about 1 inch long with a slot for a flathead screwdriver on top and a spring around the outside. Anyone know where I can get a replacement? Cheers
  9. Finally managed to get the pipe off... found it easiest to get to it by taking the battery out and going in through the side. Hardest bit was getting the horizontal bolt off that holds it to the block - that's going to be fun to get back on without dropping it! That plus trying to get the hoses off that probably haven't moved for 24 years. If anyone else needs to do this in future, invest in some very long - long nose pliers and a long 12mm spanner for the horizontal bolt before you start, saves lots of cut knuckles. Now just need to fix/replace the pipe so I can enjoy the car in the sun again!
  10. Agh... cant get a new one for 3 weeks... anyone got a decent spare that could keep me going for a while?
  11. Ideal, thanks! Yes that's the one, its on the passenger side so luckily looks the easier to fix. Had another look at it this morning and agree it looks like it'd be much easier with upper plenum out the way. Have been having injector issues as well so probably time to get them sorted properly now as well. Been studying youtube, looks to be a manageable job. Am glad it wasn't the other hose though on the drivers side, that looks like a pig to get to! One last question... where would you guys recommend I get the pipe from? I can see it advertised on concept z, but is there a UK supplier (other than dealer?). Oh, also what other bits would you recommend I do while I'm there?
  12. Hi all, Have a coolant leak behind engine. I can see where its from, its from a 1/4 inch metal pipe that goes through a 90 degree bend and joins a 1/2 inch metal pipe. Its underneath the two electrical connectors that unclip, about 5 inches below. Theres a pin hole right on the 90 degree elbow. Didnt leak to start with, but had idling on the drive for 10 minutes, switched it off and water was spurting out. I can see on the 1/4 inch side it goes into a rubber hose, so thats easy to come off. However the 1/2 inch pipe dissapears, one side to behind drivers side head, the other side disapears down towards the ground. Question I have is how easy is it to replace this hose? I've done some searching, and think the 1/4 inch pipe is a turbo coolant hose? I couldnt find any useful info on how to replace though. Anyone able to offer some guidance? I will try and post a photo if I can, its been a while since I've posted on a forum, do I still need to use photobucket or similar? Thanks in advance for any help given!
  13. Removed scuttle panel after a bit of a struggle as the screws just kept turning. New battery in car cleaned and Mot passed... Good weekend so far!
  14. Hi - could someone give me a list of what tools I will need to replace my battery. Seems like a stupid question I know but the car is 50 miles away and I'm getting the train tomorrow so need to know what tools to take with me. MOT time on friday, fingers crossed all goes well! Cheers
  15. Yeah, race prep'd blue one. Sounded ace!
