  1. It was only a fear I guess and only ever had the turbo(s) go in my time. Always keep an eye out for them tho and spotted a red one (thought it was my old one as looked standard!) going into the Medway tunnel the other night. Still a great looking car
  2. Thanks, it's not a bad example really... I kinda miss the Z and thoroughly enjoyed having it, but don't miss the fear of it going wrong every 5 mins :-) maybe it was just my paranoia!
  3. Hi all, Been a while since posting but have been kicking around regularly. Hope you're all good. Thought I would share my latest toy since the Z found a new home a few months back. A '99 C43 AMG.... Not everyone cuppa and a little understated but I love em, and that V8 growl is pretty addictive. Anyone had any association with these or any AMG's in the past?

  5. Doooooo itttt! The campaigns on the 250cdi's are fantastic at the mo.... if you can stomach the principal of a derv... But they're surprisingly pokey and quiet along with 45mpg
  6. In the words of Marv from Home Alone.... Wow.... Whatta hole

  8. Main dealers are there to sell, service and supply parts for new cars within their warranty. We need to remember cars are only a product that a company produce. If its outside the exchange/refund timescales then there is no reason for them to care. I wouldn't expect an Apple store to know how to fix a Mac from 2001, they would probably suggest binning it and buying another. Or M&S being able to supply me new buttons for a coat I bought years ago. Staff are trained on modern systems for modern cars and that's what they will deal with 99% of the time. I appreciate its frustrating, but I wouldn't have said they are useless.

  11. I like your thinking tho terry... I had the same thoughts about re routing the a/c to the air filter for some nice cold air during the summer :-) I saw a vid years ago of someone using a leaf blower to blow air into the air filter (on a vtec I think) and it increased bhp on a rolling road. Spoof or not...?!

  13. How bizarre... May not be a leak as such, maybe a previous leak that has just dripped off previously oily bits of the engine. I loved my Zed... But it's by far the biggest money pit out of the 20yr old + cars I've had. Hope it's nothing major
  14. Rings and wheel balancing would be the obvious things... Sorry can't shed anymore light on it than that!
  15. It's worth having a tear up and see what happens. Lets remember its 20-25 yr old technology against 5 yr old tech... Bhp and torque numbers may not have changed but how the power is delivered and put on the road is quite another. As said before, some series I follow like barc saloons (and maybe some in the time attack) the more modern fwds are zipping round the corners quicker than the older rwds. The straights may open them up a bit but the rs is very strong and has an extra gear. My money would be on the RS, but only cos I've driven one, if I was just looking on paper, it may be different.
