  1. Ok guys, had the car up on the ramp today. Looks pretty tidy, no holes which is nice to see. Got a little bit of play in the rear wheels but nothing I'm to worried about yet. Got round to balancing all the wheels but there is still a vibration from 40+mph. Maybe prop balancing?? And also found a few leaks. The diff is soaked, the bell housing is soaked and the turbos are soaked. Are there any common problems with oil leaks? Not sure about the box, maybe crank seal but the rocker gaskets I guess are gone and the drive shaft flange seals are gone. Not sure :)
  2. Cheers mate, yeah looked at zedworld already. Coleshill isn't to bad as I use to I've just outside Coventry anyway and visit my friends and family up there. I noticed they do a £30 check to make sure everything is up together and functioning ok. i wouldn't mind doing that as I have jumped into a world I know nothing about haha It is KL1 btw, nice guess :P
  3. Thanks for that, and with the scraping it shouldn't be a bearing or pulley cam belt kit was replaced not long ago. There's a receipt for the tensioner alone at £350+ from a Nissan dealer. And the sills have also been repaired during it's life with the previous owner. Hoping to get a chance at the weekend to get it up on a ramp at work. I want to make sure everything is good before I go and blow my budget on it :)
  4. Was going to ask as well, is there any specialists in Somerset? I'd like someone to go over her, purely for the fact I have no idea about these and have never really been interested in them.
  5. Driven the zed to work today. I've had some really strange noises. I've got a grinding noise in 2nd and 3rd when I accelerate and theres a whirring/scraping noise from the cam belt area. Really doesn't sound healthy at the moment. I'm a recently qualified technician anyway so when i get a chance I'll look further into it, but just wondered if there were any common faults, especially with the manual box.
  6. Well at those prices Nissan won't be getting any custom off me haha And steams, it's a metallic grey. I want to go over everything at the weekend anyway. I drove it back from London yesterday and it was dark by the time I got back, and working till 5pm I can't really do anything at night.
  7. A few of you may have read my post, I am now an owner of a 94 UK tt. It's my first powerful, and my first turbo car but mine is in need of major tlc, especially on the body. My main concern is the boot and centre panel between the rear lights. Where would be the best place to get a tail gate and the panel. I've found a few breaking but I'm not sure if going to a breakers is the best option. I'm budgeting up to £1000 to spend on the body. It needs possibly a new N/S/F wing, spoiler, tail gate, bumper resprays and a few other bits and bobs. Bit of a project to be honest but i hope the end result will be worth it. Also where can I find the paint code of the zed? I haven't had a look, but I know on Scoobies it's on the VIN plate.
  8. I'll get some better pics up when I have a chance. :)
  9. Thread revival. Sold the Impreza yesterday and made a special trip today to pick up my new motor. 1994 UK 300 turbo manual. My first turbo car, and easily the quickest I have driven. I can't believe how nice it is to drive for a sports car though. I've got all the bells and whistles and apart from the wheel balancing, it has to be one of the smoothest car i have driven. It's a bit of a dog at the moment. The main issue being a rotten tailgate so that needs replacing but it is an absolute joy to drive. Really pleased with it :D Any helpful tips will be appreciated, although I think this is just about covered with the £10k+ of receipts with it. I hope to tag along to a few meets and get to know some fellow zed owners. Cheers, Al
  10. Ah right. One it's a non turbo scoob I've got as I can't afford the insurance on a turbo, hence why I'm looking at a turbo zed for the performance. But I love the V6 sound so I reckon I would be happy with non turbo. And the imports, my insurance company won't cover, but a UK zed tt they will for about £100-150 a month. I've found a nice tt in Bristol but gotta get rid of the Scoob. I was just interested in spec and official figure differences. Bearing in mind I'm only 20 and I havn't got a massive amount of funds available.
  11. I've been hunting for a 300 ready for next month when I get rid of my Scoob. I was after a turbo, but thinking I may settle on a non turbo. Can anyone give me a heads up for the performance difference? I can't find any official figures anywhere. Some say 170bhp for na but others say 222bhp and 280 or 300bhp for turbos. 0-60 in 7s for na and 5.5s for turbos. Also what's the spec differences between the UK's and imports. I can't insure an import yet but would be nice to know. And one other thing, if I got a non turbo, what are they like to convert to turbo? Is Sorry if this seems totally newbie but I've never really looked at 300's :D
  12. No problem, it's not actually for sale yet, more of a heads up lol. Thanks for the welcome everyone :D
  13. Hey there, I'm Alistair. I've registered as from next month I will be on the lookout for a manual uk twin turbo hopefully around the £2500/3000 area, cheaper if possible. I thought through this site I may be able to get advice at what to look for when buying a 300 as I have never owned a nissan or even looked into them. I'm a vehicle technician anyway so I know what to look for mechanically but wasn't sure if there are known faults with these. There's bound to be some as every car has them. Cheers
