  1. It's moments like this that I wish I had any kind of mechanical know how. I was thinking of molding the broken ring in superglue, but I get the feeling that would cause more problems than it would solve :whistling: I guess I'm off to the trading section for this one!
  2. That's the final option then, in case I can't find a replacement anywhere. Do you happen to know if something similar is available in the UK or mainland Europe? Last time I tried ordering something from the States the shipping came to something like 150$. Changed my mind very quickly after that.
  3. Recently, the door lock on the driver's side (left hand side - EU) has broken. The key goes in and spins 180 degrees without doing anything. I've gone to the official Nissan repair shop and they told me a small part had broken inside the door that holds the lock in place. The bad news was that they were unable to get it or even find a part number for it, so I looked for it on the online parts database and ordered two separate parts that I thought were right from Germany. They weren't, so now I took a picture of the part in question in the hopes that someone here will be able to recognize it and hopefully provide the real part number. Any help is appreciated! :) The last picture is in cm, so the whole part is about one and a half inches long.
  4. It's always a sad sight to see a Zed taken off the streets. I very nearly did the same a month ago, but got off with a few repairs. Hope you have more luck with the new one! :clover:
  5. The Aston's nice and all, but that Pantera - or should I say, any Pantera - is a thing to behold. that ass
  6. I don't consider myself a noob when it comes to posting on forums, but I can't find the edit button, so sorry for the double-post... I just found a configurator with a TUV for this car through an old & hidden Slovenian forum post from '06. I also found that Alutec has a similar configurator, but it doesn't work for this car. Here's the link should someone need a TUV: http://bmf-3d.mx-live.com/
  7. I tried that. I thought they would have a one-off test for these scenarios, but they don't, so they just told me that I can't get larger wheels approved without a TUV. Here's the fun part: when the car was imported here back in 96' the owner only homologated the winter spec tires/wheels combo, so I should only be able to tun 225 all around. Technically I would have an illegal car just by running normal spec summer tires on it  The homologation is for the size of the tires and rims together (225/50 R16, etc)
  8. I've asked this question on some other forums but didn't get a reply. Hoping to get an answer here, since this is a European forum... I live in a country where everything has to be homologated, including the wheels, but I can't find a single TUV for the 300ZX. So I wonder if anyone knows any wheel configurators that have TÜV certified rims for the Z32? The only ones I've been able to find have them only from the 350Z onward. Or if anyone knows where to get TÜV certificate for various wheel sizes for the Turbo? Thanks in advance!
  9. I can sort of see this working if they cut the front fender in such a way that it wouldn't look so much lower than the rest of the car. Don't particularly like it, but I do get it.
  10. I wonder why you like it... :cool3: To tell the truth, I got lucky with that. Most of them are red or black around here, so you can imagine my surprise when this one got put up for sale. Didn't take me long to decide which one to get, especially after checking the maintenance records.
  11. So you bought only the front steering arms, nothing else from the handling/suspension category of this kind?
  12. I know this is an old thread, but I have to say, very sexy looking car! I can't quite make out those wheels, what are they?
  13. As I promised in my intro thread, it's time to start asking questions. To avoid opening two threads I'm going to ask everything here, if that's alright with everyone. Emissions: I managed to get my car through our versions of an MoT with the help of the people conducting it, but here's the thing. They measure on two levels, at 3000 rpm, for lambda and cats (passed both with flying colours) and at idle. And despite passing the first test, I failed completely on the emissions test. The exhausts have been replaced last year (had the same problem), so I don't think there's a problem with that, and since the cats and lambda are fine, what could be the problem? I should also point out that I had a full diagnostics test done by the Nissan service center and they couldn't find anything wrong with the car. Steering arms/rack At the same MoT they told me I'm going to have to replace "the left steering column" (that's a direct translation). Since I couldn't find such a thing, I'm left guessing that I either need a left steering arm or an entire steering rack. I'm hopefully going to get a definitive answer in a few hours, when I have it looked at again. Either way, I found these steering arms for sale and I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with them? (Link: Steering arms) If I would buy them, would I also have to replace any other parts? Does anyone have and alternative steering arms to recommend? And, just in case, where would it be best to buy an entire steering rack? The only ones I found were in the US, and they won't ship to Slovenia. Plenty of questions, I know, but I'm far from being an expert on the mechanical side of cars
  14. Thank you all for the warm welcome! As for the mods, I have been thinking about keeping the looks as stock as possible and upping the power, but that's a long way away. I want it to be sort of a "sleeper", if there is such a thing with these cars. For now the name of the game is maintenance and rear tire budget
  15. Hello everyone! I stumbled across your forum after searching for some tech things for my ZX, took a look, and decided to register. So now I should probably introduce myself. I'm a student from Slovenia at the end of my first year of owning my second car, a 1994 300ZX Turbo, (almost) fully restored by it's previous owner. Now I'm slowly working away on various minor gremlins and enjoying the car. I would like to say that I hope to contribute to this forum in some meaningful fashion, but my lack of mechanical skills will probably put me in the role of the newb who constantly asks silly questions about blinker fluid. I'm more of an enthusiastic driver than a mechanic, is what I'm getting at. In short, I hope to learn more about the mechanical and tuning side of the 300ZX and I figure this is the best place to do so. Some pics (taken at different times & locations):
