  1. Yeah my mrs is going mental. ive had it three weeks. and it needs 2,5k wort of engine work. tubs etc. has a leaky roof. not that it rains much :-\ and i cant fit all 3 kids in..... well i can with her in the boot... lol. i just want it to behave until jeff at zworld can pull it apart.
  2. Lads. I hope you can help. it seems to be one thing after another at the moment with this car :( :( Ill start with the current situation. There are no major engine mods to the car Std turbos 154k miles One turbo has a leaky seal. It used to be stood for 90% of the month but is now my daily runner about 30 miles a day. has a proofec 2 boost controller. which is set to off at the moment to preserve the turbo until i cant get it fixed in the new year. Problem Every now and again say twice per tank of fuel.. at diffeent levels of fuel in 3rd gear foot to the floor accelerating it gets to 5.5k revs and can only be described as makes like it has hit the limiter, it coughs and splutters and stops accelerating completely. It only does it in this gear (3rd) and a couple of gear up and downs later is fine... always in 3rd at 5.5k revs..... Please please please, any ideas anyone...?? Cheers James
  3. Your dead right, apologies i didnt mean you should go for 720. hell no lol. I just meant the way they advertise 1080p is very misleading.... :) :) Yeah for gods sake get something with 1080p, but do bear in mind contributing factors to a good picture as previously mentioned. J
  4. Whilst i agree with whaty most people have said here. Fundamentally just because your tv is 1080p. doesnt mean its the muts nuts, as was suggested resolution which is what the 1080p mean 1920 x 1080p (progressive) 1080 being the vertical resolution of your screen 1080 pixels. I cant think of a single ps3 game which ustilises that resolution atm. Even games like GT5 do not support it properly. more to do with the lack of gfx power in the ps3 than anything else. m In terms of movies you can tell the diff between 1080 and 720, but normally only on the bigger screens where the media player your using has to de-interlace more of the screen (as in make the picture sharper and more defined.) As has been mentioned there arnt many "HD Ready" 720 tvs out there these days. If your interested in using it mainly for games i would look for a tv with a decent refresh rate and contrast ratio. Id certainly recomment the Panasonic Viera line up..... They are very good indeed. just my 2p worth if anyone cares lol. J
  5. As most of you may know im very new to the Z having only bought her a few weeks ago. The car i bought has a set of fully adjustable 1 - 10 coilovers on.... Im not sure what make i think Tein, As she is my daily runner i commute bot using a, roads as well as the motorway. imo not that ive got a lot to base it on,. in the dry on smoothish roads the car is on rails... however even at level 1 the softest setting as soon as i hit the a/b roads its not great, im sure they should have come with a free chirocpractor. LOL.
  6. Hi Mate, I work in sales so dont worry about offending me LOL. Im 32 and a dad of 3, so i suppose to say i dont care isnt entirely accurate. More that im fed up with the whinging and moaning wherever it comes from as in my opinion what goes around comes around.... I tend to think that in the grand scheme of things it all evens itself out, and if you work hard put the effort in ultimately you get rewarded for it. I appreciate that its not always the case and im certain people could give examples. In this particualr case i can certainly see both sides, and i have enough friends who are teachers who i tell to there face that complaining at anything when they only work 38 weeks a year is a bit rich. b But hey thats my 2p on it. like i say if we all had the same opinion life would be boring and all our Zeds would look the same LOL :) :) J
  7. Wow, Clarky really has divided opinion on this one. I suspect those on the left will always be there and those on the right the same, leaving us bods in the middle who dont rally care. I tell you what though, whichever goverment offer to remlve speed cameras and lower fuel prices gets my vote....... pensions or no pensions... J
  8. Im with elephant. I completely agree they are all a ag of Sh1te. Im 32 5 years no claims no points. paid £780 fully comp for the year all mods declared. would be less but where i live is a part of the world normally on fire LOL. This is how ridiculous they are. I went from an Audi S8 4.2 V8 to a Nissan Primera Gt 2.0. Mainly to have 12 months cheap motoring LOL., I pay up front normally.... Admiral told me that the ins for the nissan was only £80.00 per year different than the Audi... hence they only gave me £40.00 back after the admin charge to cancel.... Explain this to me; Audi S8 4.2 V8 Group 50 (as it was then) Nissan Primera GT 2.0L Group 13 £80.000 Yes £80.00 per year less. MY ARSE!!! is all i can say about that.......LOL J
  9. Yup that is what mine looks like, Definately an after market filter. Cheers lads.
  10. Just a quick on chaps, ive searched the forum to no avail. perhaps im being thick (likely) but does anyone have any pics of what the std airbox and filter look like on the 1990 Z. As i have a feeling the one on mine is a greens cone filter but ive nothing to base this on as i dont know whether the orignal came witha cone filter or a panel filter etc. Apologies is this has been asked before! James
  11. Its a 1990 RHD UK Manual.
  12. Cheers for all the welcomes guys im looking forward to getting to some meets soon, i just want to breath a new bit of life into her first. To be honest she is almost imaculate anyway. but after 154k miles she needs some new doo rubbers definately as well as a bit of engine tlc. I think ive done more miles this last week than she had done in the last year LOL. J
  13. After my first oil and filter change today i think ive found where shes bleeding from. Its the left bank Rocker cover, but right at the back where you cant really see let alone get to lol :( Im sure they designed this engine bay to be worked on by 10 year olds LOL.... J
  14. Yeah i saw that, strangely on the wat to pick up my new one LOL....
  15. evening All, As most of you know ive only very recently purchased m 1990 Z32 Uk Manual TT. After noticing a strange kind of chirping sound (LOL not the dump valves before someone says :tt2:) it happens worse when cold and goes after 3000 revs. Now it sounds a bit like air escaping or fluttering through a pipe etc, but i dont seem to have any compression issues best i can tell and almost completely goes when the engine is warm...... Anything to worry about do you think?? Second thing is, im about to do an oil change so i thought id jack her up and see what size sump nut etc and a general whats what.... I had previously noticed an oil smell but thought it was from where oil had leaked out of the dipstick when id driven it from where i bought it and the dipstick musnt have been in properly as it hasnt come out since. I havent lost oil since i topped it up so i didnt think anything of it. Once under the car the underside of the gearbox and all rounf the oil filter is CAKED and i mean caked in fresh oil........ VERY concerned. Especially as like i say im not losing any. I tried the filter and its more than hand tight as well. Any ideas lads as im confused. Cheers James
  16. Hi Chaps, Dont know if ive done this right but it says to post up when you have paid your fee. Have done that tonight! Im guessing that someone needs to give me access to the PM system in order to send the info in this post Thread Cheers James
  17. Nice one for keeping it on the road bud. I had this happen to me in an Audi 80 @ 70ish on the motorway a few years ago. Scary scary moment...... J
  18. Thanks guys, from what ive read you all seem a fairly sorted bunch..... am delighted to be a member.
  19. Morning All, Rather than ask stupid questions you have all been asked a million times i searched and found a very helpful post entitled "buying guide for 300zx". That has gone some way to helping me understand the cars little nuances and expectations. I do however have a couple of quick questions to try to establish whether the car is behaving "Normally". as i have no frame of reference by which to compare it to. Its also worth mentioning that this car has a lot of aftermarket modifications.. all done by Z World in Tamworth according to the extensive service history. A little background for you all. Its a late 1990 Plate, 154k on the clock, Has had 3 cam belt chains the lates only 1k miles ago. It has 4 corner adjustable suspension (tein i think) De cat stainless exhausts. Street Clutch done 3k ago. Has a Greddy boost controller fitted and adjusted by Z World along with a new chip/remap etc. (has 3 settings ,Off,Low,Int.) Stainless pipes under the bonnet, uprated brakes, discs, calipers, braided hoses. Ally Radiator, and a few other things i cant remember right now. Any help will be much appreciated. Q1, I notice of the guide it mentions the dash boost gauge should read about 7 out of 14psi. The one on mine only goes to 7 however it easily goes full when on full throttle. ?? Q2, The oil pressure U.O.M is 3 dashes then a #4 1 dash then a #8 then 2 dash's. It goes up and down depending on engine conditions. IS this normal? What should it read? Q3, Ive only owned it 4 days so im trying to establish what a "Normal" sound from the engine is... there doesnt seem to be any untoward sounds from the block etc, what kind of bad sounds do turbo's on there way out make? Q4, Last one ta, the bumph says it runs on 10W 40 engine oil, but surely for a less viscous fully sythnetic oil that colled quicker would be better for the turbo's? Like i said any help would be really appreciated. Thanks James
  20. Cheers guys. No pics as yet, other than the ones i can post up from the ad on pistonheads.... Ill take some tomorrow and post em up. J
