  1. One to put down to experience i think...But thank you Paul C for posting that link. I think this is the route I will have to go. I have all the problems you are describing. Pull to left, the old tyres had wear on the inside, the tracking guys have diagnosed too much negative camber on one of the front tyres......Where can I get those parts??? and how much would they be? I hve a 300zx N/A 1995. Also just to make a comment on the tracking guys who worked on the car. Their mistake was to do the 4 wheel alignment and then tell me it was all sorted. It then still pulls left and I take it back to them. Then they tell me that it's too much negative camber on one of the front tyres and that it's not adjustable...my point, why the f**k didn't you tell me that the first time................
  2. Just got feedback from the garage that did the 4 wheel alignment. They've gone back over it with a fine toothed comb and have stated the camber is out on the nearside. One side is 1 degree and the other is 3 degree. They say this could be a bent chassie(SHIT?) or something in the suspension set up (more likely if you ask me, my car is mint!) But they said if I really wanted to get to the bottom of it I need laser alignment to diagnose the problem as their set up isn't as accurate as what I need. Any advice guys? adz
  3. I'm in streatham south London. cheers
  4. Guys, Have read other stuff on the site about this problem but would like a bit of clarity on what to do next. Basically have had 4 wheel alignment done and if anything the car pulls more to the left than before!! ( I have an N/A zx) Should I: a) I have new tyres all round, should I wait for these to 'bed in' before looking further into this issue? b) go back to the alignment place and say I want them to do it again? Coz they didn't have the steering wheel straight (possibly?) c) Go down the sticky caliper route? (even though the car pulls all the time not just breaking) Some people speculate about the road surface camber but I had a 1990 Lude before with 4 wheel steering and the road camber made little or no difference to the car's direction?? It almost feels slightly harder to turn the steering wheel right than left???? don't know if that could mean something? cheers for any help, Adz
  5. Thanks guys, I'm booked in next tuesday. If the slight pull to left is there afterwards, what's my best option? Could it be a sticky brake caliper? cheers, adz
  6. Please ignore my last thread. I've since worked out that NAs (like I have) never had the 4 wheel steering HICAS system....... A four wheel alignment cost it is for me! adz
  7. Hi there, I've searched the rest of the forum but haven't seem to find what I'm after. Had the new F452s fitted, they're great! The company who did it could only do the tracking/alignment on the front wheels. The said I had toeing out as opposed to toeing in. This I knew. But the slight pull to the left ( that has kinda always been there but is more prononced now with the new tyres) would suggest the problem lies with the rears wheels? For the rear wheel tracking/ alignment do I need to see a specialist? I've found a garage just down the road that does 4 wheel alignment but they say they can't do cars that have 4 wheel steering? I understand that would be the case if you had a 1990 Honda prelude (like I did) But is it the same for 300zx? Many thanks, Adz
  8. Thanks for that guys, I decided to go for the Falken 452s 265/40/17 for the rear. Spoke to the guy and I think the problem with sourcing the 255s is down to their supplier. They are a really nice compnay so I don't think he was trying to do me, just was beening fobbed off by his Falken supplier. Anyway a little wider on the back can only add to the look of a 300!!!......correct me if I'm wrong....
  9. I will check out the J rating hwen I get honme tonight. But basically if the J rating is right I should go ahead with the 265/40/17 for the rear and not worru too much about the old 1.8% speed difference incurred????? cheers adz p.s. I did just read the tyre bible....
  10. Sorry Bartflaster I didn't get the question about what 'J' are your rear tyres? cheers,
  11. Hi there, can anyone help me with this tyre question. I'm replacing my Japanese import tyres with Falken 452s. The rear tyres at the moment are 255/ 40/17. From advice I received on this site people said stick with that size. BUTthe company I'm dealing with can't source those; in fact they say Falken hasn't even made them yet(?) They are offering me 265/40/17's instead? I put this into the tyre calculator and it said my car would be 1.3% too slow. So 60 mph would be 60.8mph. I don't get this as the profile isn't changing just the width?? Any advice would be great, Cheers, Adam
  12. Thanks for the welcome guys. You're all right, forums for info about cars make all the difference! Mark, I went to test drive the Legend right next to the Race course. car dealership. It was a bling condition car for the money but the handling sucked!! Hence why I now own a Z...cheers
  13. Hi mark, thank you very much for getting back to me. Your number is now on my phone! I was down in ascot test driving a 1994 honda legend before I saw sense and got the Z! Cheers
  14. Cheers Pablito, That's very good to know. Quick question. I brought the car with 55K on the clock and full service history. I know the cam/timing Belt hasn't been changed yet. Do I have to do it at 60K even if my car isn't twin turbo? many thanks.
  15. Thanks Groover, What is the one in Ascot? That's not to far. cheers
  16. Thanks guys, Groover I'm based in Streatham south london if there's anyone you know nearby that would be great. I'll try and get some pics up tomorrow, my girlfriend is a photographer so I'll get her to do'em!!
  17. Hi there, I'm now the proud owner of a Red Import 1995 non turbo 300zx!! Great car, loving it so far. I've owned a 1990 Honda prelude for the past 6 years but felt I deserved something a little better! I'm based in south London and would love to here any advice about the best people down this way to look after the car mechanically? Also It has old Japanese tyres on it, they're cracking slightly and has wear on the front inside of the tyres (tracking, Camber issues?) Should I get this sorted when I get new tyres? At the mo I have 235/45/17 on the front and 255/40/17 on the rear. Should I just replace these tyre sizes exactly with Falkens? Any advice would be greatly appreciated, Cheers, adz
