  1. Sure its not the dump valves reverberating through exhaust? I've had it before on my old golf where I could hear the recirc dump valve through the induction kit.
  2. Cheers jeff. Is there anyway I can do that (buying a reader?) and send you the file or something? The cars off the road Until I've sorted the bodywork and I'm dying to know lol. It is also holding up my tuning plans ;) Failing that could you chip/remap the ecu without the car? Just thinking I could send it to you?
  3. Bugger, ECU is back in the car now ... socketed? I'm assuming that means the pins in the chip sit in some kind of plastic terminals and can be removed by just pulling out? If so, then no - it was soldered directly on to the board. If you still need a pic let me know and i'll whip it out again :)
  4. not really bothered about weight distribution really... once my fat arse climbs in it's all gone to pot anyway :) I was thinking the counter weight may well have been due to the weight of the wiper motor... i did notice the tailgate being a little one sided when i removed the wiper motor, until i removed the counter weight :confused1:
  5. Already done fella :thumbup1:
  6. Thanks, so are we saying its standard?
  7. Guys, The previous owner of my Z had it down at Zedworld not long back and is pretty certain they told him the car had an aftermarket ECU. I've contacted Jeff to see if they've recorded any details on their job sheet etc but he's not come back to me yet and so being the impatient type i pulled it out tonight to have a look. There's nothing obvious to me but thought i'd post some pics so that you experts can see if you can confirm whether or not it's aftermarket? Any idea what the little adjust-y thing is with the japanese sticker around it? Also, in the last pic what would that black connector plug go in to?
  8. Was a little bored after putting the little ones to bed tonight, so went out to see where i could start on the Z. A little bit of pulling, and tugging and hey presto.... Wiper and spoiler gone :whistling: Can't get over the weight of that spoiler!
  9. you can jet wash or steam. Just cover up all electricals with plastic bags, spray any exposed electrical connections with WD40 or similar, have engine running and away you go. The idea behind keeping the engine running is that 1) as the engine gets hot excess water will evaporate and not sit in parts/places it shouldn't and 2) you'll know if you've sprayed water somewhere you shouldn't ;) If you are using a jet wash, just use your common sense and don't go in all guns blazing.
  10. The donation with made with pleasure mate. My wife an i have lost a couple of babies through mis-carriage so it's something fairly close to our heart. Merry xmas to you and yours. :)
  11. I wasn't around here when this happened so have read the story on your Just Giving page. Tragic affair and amongst all the medical research and technology in today's world something that can not be avoided :( Consider yourself £20 closer to your target.
  12. Colour change!!?? I love the colour of yours at the min! So much so I was starting to feel guilty that I was going to copy you. Lol 350z orange?
  13. Haha... sorry mate, lost your post in with curleykevs war and peace :) air freshener isn't a bad shout - although i use California Scents :cool3:
  14. @curleykev - that is sooo true! I think i'll just leave the car in the garage! :) @baz - they were fitted not long after that photo was taken ;)
  15. Guys, I'll finally have my Z at the end of the week, and have already bought a couple of bits for it (throttle cover strip and grounding kit ). My priority for this particular Z is bodywork, including spoiler removal, bodykit and some smoothing. Once that is finished i'll be looking to move on to the rest. There's plenty i'd loke to do and the shopping list is getting bigger each day, but wanted your collective advice on whether there are any essential mods, or mods that i should be giving priority ?
  16. Hmmm, not on iPad it doesn't. :cursing: I'll be watching this one on the laptop then.
  17. Has it been removed? All I can find is top gear USA?
  18. Thanks for the replies fellas. Greedy one looks like a winner for me. Although plenty to do before I get to the tuning stage yet
  19. Just been doing some research for when I start my Z project and it seems i'm going to be needing a Boost Controller. After a few searches I can't seem to find which is deemed to be the best one. I've read a bit about the Greddy E-01 models which seem to be a whole box of tricks, but was just wondering if there's any others I should be looking at? Any recommendations from people on here?
  20. I'm going to go spoiler-less... like the smooth look. Mikey Bean covered the process quite well in his build thread - http://300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=141710
  21. I've done it before. Put about 20l petrol in to my empty diesel tank on my Picasso. Drove it and like you only noticed a Mile down the road when it started struggling. Emptied the tank and put a fiver of diesel in to get me back to the petrol station, then filled up with vpower diesel and drove it. It ran like a bag of nails for a couple of mile but once the diesel got round the system again it was getter better. For the next few tanks I put in some redex too. I was going to get the fuel filter changed but never got around to it and after a few miles it was driving like normal again. That was about 18 months ago and the same car is still going strong now. Like it never happened :)
  22. I can't believe this has gone to 3 pages and nobody has mentioned Man On Fire... A must see film!
  23. guys, thanks very much... pictures speak a thousand words!! think the Autobahn one looks like the one to go for.
  24. no problems, and i completely agree. Before I start bolting on anything to do with performance it'll be booked in to Zedworld for them to give it the all clear. :thumbup1: Thanks for the link, will take a look. There are a few really cheapo universal ones. Then the one linked to, around the £225 mark which appear to be direct fit/design for the Z. I'll certainly be doing some research in to them before i go down this route. Would love to hear if somebody on here has one of these fitted
  25. Yes, it's a Toyosports one... :thumbup1: might add that to 'the list'
