Exhaust and emissions
Ok a typical newbie question..... If I fit an exhaust without a cat, will my car fail an MOT on emissions? Or are some cars exempt because they were manufactured before a certain year? My car was manufactured in 93.

Black Z - M4/M25
Followed your black G reg ZX this afternoon for a few miles on the M4 and M25. Flashed to say hello.

White Z - A3006 - 25/1/05
Nice looking white (?) Z with a big spoiler take a right turn after I passed by. Saw you too late to wave or flash, sorry. I was in a dark grey Z coming in the opposite direction.

Black Z - Hitchin
Saw a Black Z in Hitchin going towards Henlow today (22/1/05). Looked like it had a funky exhaust fitted. I was waiting for a new tyre to be fitted so if you saw my car inside STS tyres congratulations: you have the eyes of a ninja eagle cyborg.

Tailgating
Gee thanks for caring guys! There's no shortage of nutters and retards out there trying to kill us on the roads. Actually one of the main reasons I got a ZX was safer overtaking! Hardly a classic excuse for a car like the ZX but thats what I told the wife....

Tailgating
Yeah corsas and saxos too lol. Obviously their 1.1 engine will smoke my ZX coz they have a body kit fitted.... Beware of anyone driving while wearing an item of headgear - flat cap, burberry on backwards etc etc etc

Tailgating
Ive not had my ZX for long but already Ive noticed I get tailgated far more often that in my previous (modest) car. I also get overtaken inappropriately more often too. I guess some of this is curiosity from ppl wanting to get a closer look at a rare car, but its pretty unnerving. Maybe the driver behind sees Twin Turbo on the back and wants to see if his car (a BMW more often than not) will keep up, though I dont drive all that fast, honest. Any thoughts from you older and wiser Z owners?

garage problems
Sorry to hear about this. A good reminder on how we should be careful looking after a complicated car. My tuppence worth is set the credit card company on them. It's in their interest for you to be satisfied with your purchases on the card so they will kick ass pretty effectively on your behalf. I followed this route successfully a while ago in another matter.

New 300ZX owner - 3 questions
Good thinking Greg! So whats the likely culprit for a boost leak? A hose somewhere?

New 300ZX owner - 3 questions
Thanks for the tips chaps. I'll certainly keep a close eye on the belt situation. Is there anything I should look/listen for belt wise? Re turbo noise, I find exactly the same as Dave. I get the whistle on acceleration from about 20-30 mph in the first few miles. It disappears completely after a short while. Is this a question of driving off boost for a good long warm up period to let the oil circulate? Cheers, Chris

New 300ZX owner - 3 questions
Happy new year to you all. Had my ZX (unmodified auto uk car) for about a week and have a few questions as this is my first 300ZX. (1) I was advised at service that my drive belts are starting to crack. Cam belt was changed at 60k (97k on the clock now) Should I replace the belts now or will they be ok for a a few k or so? (2) What fog lights should the car have? I only have rear offside. Surely I should have more fog lights somewhere!? (3) Turbo noise.... yes I know this is an old chestnut. I would characterise the sound as a distant US style police siren as it rises in pitch. Always makes me check the mirrors lol  Anything to worry about here? Thanks for your attention Chris
