The main thing that is pi$$ing me off is there is a slight oil leak down the back of the engine on the passenger side, i have looked at the vvt solinoids and they dont seem to be the cause. I have degreased and removed all traces of oil but still cant see where its coming from. To make matters worse it drips or gets splashed on to the passenger side exhaust so it smokes like its on fire when i stop anywhere.

just seemed like i asked a simple Q? not been on here long so i didnt see them as very welcoming comments seeing as i have never met any of you! if this was a for sale thread then i would have put for sale not thinking of selling! anyway rant over! accepted :0)

All sorted now i replaced the heads and it starts and runs fine just a slight annoying rattle from the vvt cam:cursing: oh and a slight oil leak from the vvt solanoid:crying: its amazing the amount of attention i get in it the only problem being when i stop at a garage people always want to talk to me.............................................to ask if its on fire!!!!!!:mad2::blush::confused1:

it was the idler pully that fell off that caused the timing to jump:thumbdown:

yep mine used to be beige thats the import colour on my log book soon got that changed though when i hade mrs plod on my drive at 5am last tues morning thinking it was stolen as its now white

saw a beige 300 today at the tescos at scunny today tidy car with nice looking zorsts both exchanged waves! Was it you?:thumbup:

I forgot to say i found 2 smashed exhaust valves and about 18 or 19 of the others are bent!

yea hey!!!! I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.. found a pair of heads, all have to do now is fit 'em. The old ones are off, just got to clean around engine bay and remove the egr and all the other surplus cr!p.. Shouldnt be long before its on the road. Just want to say a quick thanks to Zedworld and Jimmer!

hi all got the 300zx finally, got it home, had a look and found the timing was over 180 degrees out on one of the exhaust cams and marginaly out on all the others!!!!!!!!!!! so................does any body know where i can get a set of heads from and what sort of price can i expect to pay? thanks steve

no im not too sure, fingers crossed just the starter motor, heard the previous owner had issues with it when bought but a new engine was sourced, and fitted and it just stuttered and stopped and now it doesnt turn over (i know that doesnt sound too good but an engine rebuild doesnt faze me in the slightest):wack:

not sure about fog light, its n/a but the deal im doin is a good one the 300zx is a non runner but that isnt a problem to me as i plan to rebuild it anyway
