Air con, con?
The previous owner of my Z had problems with the air conditioning over the 5 years he owned it; basically it was making a terrible noise that got worse. It has not been re gassed since import in 2004. He took it to a garage and they said they had fixed it electronically. I have the invoice for the work done it cost him £60 two years ago; a Z specialist located in Swindon. But he admitted he didn’t think it was working very well and hardly used it. So the other day I had a quick look and basically all they had done as far as I can see is remove the fuse. I put a new fuse in and turned it on and yes it makes a terrible noise. Three questions:- 1. What are the likely problems causing the grinding noise? 2. As it is a 1990 model I assume there will be a re-gas problem anyway. 3. If I don’t bother repairing the unit would it be best to disconnect the drive belt? Any advice?

Cheers Paul went straight out and tried that idea, Moving it round by one pitch of the six setscrews takes the wheel off the horizontal line the other way but at least I can see the instruments through the spokes. Just have to get used to an out of true steering wheel or not dive straight too often.

The multi checker is on the left of the steering column under the dash. Red NOS button on the right LOL. Problem being the last owner put the steering wheel on offset so the spokes when going in a straight line cover up the display! Take it off and re position it you may say – problem the retaining nut has been mangled on the spline as a wrong size spanner was used!

I would prefer a standard vented headlight panel that will come in time. I thought people would hate the gold wheels, I wasnt too sure. The Z32 stick on logo looks a bit home made the other is a metal script ‘twin turbo’ perhaps of a 31? I would have liked a Fairlady badge. But all in all a good find to do some work on.:dhttp://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/smilies/banana.gifance:

More photos of the new car. I think the window tinting is a bit excessive if not illegal, any thoughts?

Hi, I have been looking for a zed since November, seen about 12 scary examples. Also had offer from a Z specialist in Wiltshire who wanted to build me one from several scrapped cars he had, but the price kept going up and up every day, then he changed his mind and wanted to keep the car! Z world were brilliant going through their records and usually advising ‘the engine rebuild’ or ‘turbo work’ or ‘regular servicing’ etc, etc, the seller had claimed wasn’t actually done by them. But at last I have brought one! It’s a 1990 TT auto. Drove it home 120 miles. It took a couple of hours for the smile to go from my face. What a blast! Mind you I forgot about the overdrive and it took over half a tank of fuel, but I have now sussed it out. Any one in my area please come and have a look and see if it is as good as I think or have I missed something? Not sure if this will open?
