Sorry hot oil is for guilds no seals, its late im going to bed!

£1000+ very simular to cost of tubbys. good indicator of stem seals is smokeing on startup after overnight lay up. the oil seeps through the seal into the piston. sorry for the bad news comp test will tell you but you may not loose much pressure and may not be ovious. each seal has to be coxed out by soaking heads in hot oil bath to aid removal,there is also 24 of the buggers!

The unit has to come out of the car and the heads removed if you try to do it in the car with the heads on you will have 24 valves inside the cylinder block when you try to take the springs and collets off! :headvswal

Sarg, you need to establish if its a fault with the light unit or the wireing loom/car. to do this you have to connect a constant 12v supply to the unit that is failing, this is called ilimination, this is the basis of electrical fault finding.
