Hi Jeff... thanks for your time in answering my thread I really appreciate it , I have no mechanical knowledge .. The reason I had the top end rebuilt was my turbos seized up and when I took it to the garage ....not a normal run of the mill garage .. specialises in high performance and race spec cars.. they told me the pipes to the turbos were blocked and loads of other bits needed changing ..engine seals etc so I said rebuild it then. After the work was complete I was told to run it in when I got to 500 miles to bring it back so they could turn the PSI UP and change the oil. I reached 200 miles when the knocking noise started, I rang the garage and told them and he said it sounds like the buttom end or big end and wasnt anything to do with the work he did to the turbos and rebuild of the top end. The car was only run at weekends after the work was done and the garage said this might have been the problem the car sitting there.!!!!???? Just dont want to spend another large amount to rebuild the bottom end if thats not the problem so confused. I had a mechanic look at the car and he said it was the big ends defo, I AM GOING TO GET A SECOND THIRD AND FORTH QUOTE. THANKS AGAIN FOR YOUR TIME !!

Hi all !! I am a newbie and a Nissan 300 zx twin turbo owner. I recently had my top end rebuilt and had new bigger hybrid turbos fitted, after a while I started getting a mild knocking sound, which turned louder , its sounds like two hammers knocking together and resulted in a lose of power. I have verbally rang an nissan expertise gargage and they have said its the bottom end. The expertise gargae i used to do the rebuild on top end have said the same, but i am really annoyed at the money spent on the rebuild of top end and their expertise why they never suggested any thing abt the botton end when i had the top end rebuilt??? Can I have ur views on this????? I HAVE BEEN QUOTED £1150 from Auto Fix to rebuild the button end but this was all done verbally over the phone. I am in hertfordshire near to london any suggestion of any trustworthy mechanic garages in the south east /london Would appreciate all views comment etc .. have no engine mechanical knowledge and feel like I have been ripped off by this expert nissan garage in hertford region ...dont wonna say the name of garage but Im sure u keen Nissan enthusiast should know the garage! help!!
