I think we should have a thread with a list of the common things zed's fail the MOT on so we know what to check. Excess Play in rear HiCas Inner and Outer arms. Excessive Corrosion of Inner and Outer rear Sills (Due mainly to blocked Targa Drainage Channels) Excessive Corrosion of Rear Brake Pipe the run up over the rear Sub Frame Rear Fog Lights in a j-spec (grey area with some mot people failing when its in where the inner brake lights are) any more?

Id say it indicates your piston rings are loosing pressure.

Sad News Dave. We had similar news from my cousin. His wife went into the hospital 5 months ago when she was pregnant and kept coughing up blood. The doctors on 5 occasions diagnosed chest infection. 12 weeks ago after going into hospital for final check on her baby, they ran tests and found she had Cancer in just about everywhere. 8 Weeks ago she gave birth to a baby boy, Yesterday she died in her sleep. Allthough this is sad, it nowhere near as bad for me as a member of my immediate family, especially my mum. my wife has burried her Mother and I have burried my Brother and no matter if it was expected or not, it i crippling emmotionally. I hope your bearing up ok, just remember you never forget you just learn to cope better.

I had a spare engine, which was chucked in. One i did notice though that when driving my car and said smoke was billowing out of the back, if you put the clutch down it stopped. I had a whole new driving style because of my car and this LOL. Smoke was only on De-Acceleration

Does not sound like the turbo's but more a engine problem. Mine did this for some time, thought it was the turbo's but then lost 2 cylinders. Turbos were fine.

I have a Hicas Boss Kit, which i never installed and I purchased it from ebay australia. It does not have the cruise control though, but you can re-locate the switches off the steering wheel. Andy Duff put a post up on here about a cheap way to diable Hicas is you go down that route.

it was a 10w oil that went in as i haves used 5w or 0w before which i felt would be too thin. the oil went in a day before and no smoke.

Somewhere in that car park is parked a 300zx. Of you find it Right click above it and select direction from here. replacement engine is usually cheaper

i would go with a 10w as i feel the 0w is a tad to thin for these engines. as for the heat rating, nissan say 30 but most agree thats too low, i would be happy with 40 on a std engine and say 50-60 on a modded one. I think castrol RS stuff is meant to be pretty good, so is millers and one by Silkolene i think. All those ore for modded engines Id guess. No idea whats in mine though, mind you its thicker than it was due to hydralic lifter slurp i stuck in.

Run a live feed to the pump and see if it wirrs. Also try cutting the earth wire and direct feeding it to a bit of metal in the boot.
