i have a mk2 mondeo and was really proud that it had both bumpers intact. then some arse hit my front bumper an broke it! i refuse to tape it though, i'd rather by a new bumper and fit it.

typically all they would do is look in through the oil cap and ask you to turn over the engine. if the belt has snapped you wont see anything moving

I know it would be better to do these things mate, But to be honest i think it would give the worst offenders a better reason to keep doing it as they now have a ticket to say they are competent drivers.

I totally agree mate. I am one of those said lorry drivers and I know I have bad habbits. All I can do is try to get to where i'm headed as safe as possible. If i cant see then I cant drive. I have seen some daylight pics of the m5 crash now and it seems all the very front vehicles are cars. To me personaly it seems maybe a couple of cars had an incident and then everybody ploughed into the back. People need to realise they are not invincible and not indestructable.
