  1. Thanks guys. I'll make the guy an offer.
  2. Hiya folks. Not been on here for a long, long time. Mostly because I haven't had a Zed. :) Anyways... guy asked me today if I'd be interested in a 240Z. He seemed more than a little surprised when I didn't ask what that was. Early 70's, 240Z, black, Mot'd every year without too many problems. Used regularly during summer months. 140k miles, good condition for year and not restored. I offered to research the case for him, so I came to the place that knows about Zeds. Any ideas about the car's worth?

Sorry to bring this thread back up, but cannot seem to contact tttam any other way. Hopefully tam will get email saying reply to post has been made. Hi Tam... john300zx suggested I contact you re parts needed for my sickly 300zx turbo. Could you call me please. John 0777 5854 777 Need osr shock and nsr steering arm (steering arms might be same on both sides, dunno. Cheers Tam
  4. I wouldn't bother with an argument "my car handles better than yours" etc. I bought my car for me, not anyone else. I am happy with my choice. I have other cars, but the zed impresses me every time I look at it and especially drive it. I won't say how much I paid for my most recent one, but it's the cheapest way of going this fast by a long way.
  5. I used to import Pajero. Been on the club for years. Most folks blast the underneath witha pressure washer, allow to dry, then coat with waxoil. Needs applied every 2 years.
  6. Didn't know you got a pack. What's in it?
  7. I can see where someone could think there's a rip-off involved. I can also see where advan are trying to make a profit. Can also see why the price is not as inflated as it sounds. The import process is straightforward, but not exactly easy for novices. First obvious problem is - the guy you are sending your money to in Japan - is he reputable or are you never going to see your money again. Even reputable companies in this financial climate cannot be 100%. Look at the bug names that have recently gone bust. Then there's fob. What if the boat sinks. Happened before. Need insurance, which is available. Many variables are being ironed out by the importer, so really, he has the right to charge. Then there's warranty. The supplier of the car can harp on as much as he likes about no warranty, sold as seen etc, but in reality, any car dealer has a load of legal obligations to his customers. Sold as seen is a term from the dark ages. If your recently supplied import, supplied by advan, was to fry an engine on the way home, are you going to buy yourself a new engine? Or are you going to look into the legalities and get advan to sort it? Dealers must allow for repairs and rectifications in their sell price. Taking all this into account, the sell price and buy price are closer than first appear. Then there's advan... We'll stick this on at 7 grand, buy price is 2k fob, somebody might bite. Can't blame them for chancing it and trying to make a living. Moght get somepne outthere looking for a 7 grand toy who knows nowt about the car market. It happens. :)
  8. I had Alpine 171 comonents in my first Z. They fitted well, good sound quality. Fitted 2 sets - one front, one rear. Fronts were straightforward to fit, rears needed work. Loads of plastics and bits came out the car to get them in. Only place I could find for the tweeters was the surround for the rear side window. While the plastics were out, I laid down sound deadening all over the rear floor area. Not a quick job.
  9. Rear plates that I make are 13"x7".
  10. Thanks for the welcomes folks. Will get pics up asap. But she's a bit rough - maybe I'll blur the pics a bit, make her all-soft-focus-gorgeous kind of thing. :) Nah - she's gorgeous anyways - I'll get some pics. :)
  11. Thanks for the advice folks. Will get a look at the back end when time allows. Checked coilpacks as first port of call re the power - one was disconnected.
  12. Uno - thanks for advice, will get searching. Needs at least a service. Chunk banned. Oh well. On MOM 17" rims with no-name tyres. Doesn't feel like a tyre or wheel problem though - more like the spring and shockers aren't bolted in properly. Ruishy1 - thanks for advice, you got the name and number of the Glasgow guy? I know about the power. Had 2 turbo, two na in the past. StellaZ - thanks for advice, will have a look.
  13. Not been around these parts in such a long time that I had to re-register. Chunk still on here? Got some bits off him years ago. Advice too. Just bought a Z today.J reg, turbo, import. Can I run these problems past you guys? Car has poor power. Feels about half the power it should have.My first thoughts are related to plugs and coil packs. How do you test coil packs? Idles rough as well, constant revs, about 900rpm, but not smooth. Seems to put out more fumes from right exhaust than the left. Twitchy rear. Go over a bump and the rear kicks out to the left a bit. Not good. I know these are vague symptoms, but any advice greatly appreciated. What's available in diagnostic machines/programs. I have a spare laptop. Thanks in advance.
  14. Hiya. After several years with no Z, I bought one today. In the past I have owned two turbos, two na's. One I got today is turbo, auto, targa, J reg, 56k on the clock(km), gunmetal grey, MOMO 17's, HKS turbo timer. Needs work. First thing is engine - feels about half power, so maybe needs a few coil packs? Next on the list is suspension - jiggles a bit at the rear. Then tidy bodywork. Nice wheels though. :)
