  1. Thank you. Actually buying a NA Z is another question. I've never driven a Z but my experience is that (small engine) NA cars should be light and Z looks a bit heavy for 220hp. It's still not bad and NA are easier to find and cheaper. I'd prefer the NA version to rev up to 8000 RPM to make at least 250hp.
  2. I'm not planning to buy a biturbo in California, even if maintenance cost is roughly the same here and in Europe. The question is more: will I buy a Z (a budget but certainly funny) or say a Fiat 124 Spider (easy, cheap and beautiful) or an MX-5 (still cool) or just another Camry (I hate but cheap and it lasts forever) and wait until I'm back to France.
  3. So nobody here's never owned a biturbo (biturbo/Ghibli/QP) ? I'm not interested in hearing what's commonly said about biturbo, I know this car in details and I've been using it 3-4 days a week for 2 years. I'd like to understand if a TT will give me as much fun as my 430. Some info: The overall car design is close to Z without hightech steering systems. First biturbo appeared in 82 and the chassis has almost never evolved until last 2000 versions when Ferrari stopped their production. The car was not designed to be sold during 18 years. biturbo have had 2L, 2.5L and 2.8L v6. The 2.5 was a useless version. Ghibli 2L 24v were 305hp, QP 2L 285hp, 2.8 were 250hp (225 in US) (18v) or 285hp (24v). Older 2L were 180-245hp but cars were lighter. Some track Ghibli 2L versions were 320-340hp.
  4. Thanks. I'm actually French, so driving on the wrong side does not hurt me :) Here cars are cheaper than in Europe, even with a decent mileage. I'm trying to figure out how the 300zx is an everyday driver. How easy/hard it is to repair (by myself), what are known serious problems. Then there are different versions like 2+0 or 2+2, the rear wheel steering system that seems to be an option. What's better for which usage. I still have a lot to read on this forum.
  5. Hi, I'm new here, looking for a possibility to buy a 91-95 300zx TT. I'm French, I moved to California for 1-2 years. Does anybody here knows enough about Maserati biturbo (biturbo/Ghibli/Quattroporte IV) to compare them with 300zx TT ? Handling, performance, maintenance, strong/weak points. For everyday usage and possibly track days. I own a 430 18v boosted to 300hp, I left it in France. I do all the mechanical work myself. If I had a 300zx I'd do all the maintenance by myself as well. Thank you
  6. Hi, I'm planing to buy a 90-96 300zx, possibly a TT. By now I'm just collecting all possible information about these cars. I've downloaded the workshop manual and found 300zx very close to Maserati biturbo (I own a 430 18v, I do all the work myself). I currently live in California, here Z32 are cheaper than in Europe so I think it's a good opportunity to try them. I also own an MPI low boost turbo Mini 1000 (see you on turbominis.co.uk)
