I have read this thread with great interest and there appears to be a mass of photographic evidence that the job was not carried out professionally.Surely the car owner should show this to the garage proprietor / mechanic concerned in order that (a) it can be rectified and made safe, (b) take steps to make sure they do not make the same mistake again on another customers vehicle.

If your mechanic is not too far away from you could get the car to him , he does have some responsibility to at least try to identify the problem for you. Your local trading Standards office will have som constructive advice on a way forward. Good luck.

It says R-Spec on the unit, there is a similar one for sale on e bay item no. 250317471879, the unit is wired in and under the ignition but does not appear to operate when I press the 4 buttons. Cheers
