  6. bump- Anybody have any clues on the gearbox/engine problem?
  7. I've just got my import insured fully comp with Sureterm Direct (0870 20 20 230). I told them it's an import and has after market exhaust and alloys. The bloke I spoke to was really helpful and did what he could to reduce my premium. It started of at £699 but I said that it had been in the UK for 8 years and was converted for UK use. That reduced the premium to £499 and I got an extra £40 off for being a member 300ZX.co.uk!! Cover includes courtesy car, windscreen cover, and guaranteed value, my excess is £100. Like you my no claims is being used on my other car and I'd been involved in a non-fault accident in the summer. This was by far the cheapest I could find
  8. Glad I've got windscreen cover!!
  9. Dan, What do the power and hold modes actually do? I've got an owners manual for the UK and Australian Z's and it doesn't mention them.
  10. I don't think the UK auto box has power and hold modes.
  11. Jeff - The engine should be good as its a recon with a months warranty left on it. It starts first time (even this morning!) The oil pressure is good the turbos don't smoke and it sailed through a recent compression test. The throttle response is also good. As you say though I won't be able to drive it properly until it's legal (next week, hopefully) Pete - no pics yet i'm afraid. From memory it's around 10inches long and 6 deep but I could be well out on that! It's sitting behind the induction cone
  12. Couple of questions. Drove my Zed for the first time since my test drive today. Was taking the car for its MOT and it was freezing outside , anyway the car seemed really sluggish. As it was freezing outside I was very reluctant to put my foot down, didn't want to be wheel spinning! only took it up to a little over 2000rpm but it did seem quite hesitant and slow on picking up. The bloke at the garage said that autoboxes can be sluggish in cold weather until they have warmed up, as i've never had an auto before I don't know if this is true or not. Should I be worrying about this or is it normal? Could only drive the car to the MOT station and back as it isn't taxed yet :) Also, I was looking around the front of my engine and spotted this little alloy radiator with a nismo sticker on it so my questions are. 1. Is this the intercooler? if not what is it? 2. As its a Nismo part, is this a stock item? Go easy on me this is my first turbo (and RWD, AUTO) car! lol cheers dave
  13. Found mine, thanks mate
  14. Wouldn't by a car off that bloke!! I went to look at a 93 UK Turbo he was selling with 90000 miles full service history and a years T+T. Also lady owner for last 12 years! The car was a complete shed, it had also done 97,000. The FSH stopped in 2004 there was 9 months mot and 2 months tax and the lady owner was called DAVID Smith. He hadn't even bothered to wash it! PLUS you don't get to drive it and it will be parked against a fence so you cant get round it properly! Rant over
  15. welcome mate, I've got a 89 Jap TT Auto too!

  19. I'm not an expert mate, but it sounds like it may be your PTU. The series 1 PTU's had problems that would cause these symptoms.
  20. Yep, haven't heard slade once this year yet (thank god!)
  21. Same happened to me but the credit card company phoned me due to the "odd" purchases on my card. They asked me if I had bought any of these things, one of which was £700 on an online gambling site, I said NO and they replied that "they didn't think I had, as I had never used the card like this in the past". Up shot was that the refunded all the money taken and sent me a new card. Get on to your credit company and tell them that your card has been cloned.
  22. I've got 330mm AP Racing discs on my Vectra GSi :D
  23. welcome m8, i'm a new j-spec owner too!
