  1. Welcome to the club Ivan. Like everyone says: * this is the best source of info you can get in the world(!), and * use Optimax (even tho ive not put a drop in my tank after 18 months cos i cant afford it! :rolleyes: )
  2. i cant believe it - ive just been outside and relocated the ptu connection, got back in at it worked fine. so turned it off, praised God, used a wire clip to keep the connection secure and now its gone naff again :( no matter how much i play with the connection its back to 3 or 4 cyls. checked every connection i can see. did notice these two things tho: a) black oil gathering in bottom of zorst, which is blowing light grey smoke b) when i throttle the driver-side bank there is a weird sucking sound from somewhere below the centre of the driver-side plenum, sounds exactly like someone sucking through a straw. passenger side doesnt make this noise. any ideas as im this close to getting rid of the car :( :cry:

  5. to be completely honest i threw down a low bid just for the sake of it (to quell my addiction to ebay lol ;) ) cos ive been thinking about an auto->manual conversion but now the car's only firing on 4 cyls its pi$$£d me off so much i might not bother :mad: :mad:
  6. TBH i dont know Chris. i suppose you could look around at the high-powered rides on this forum and see whether they have BOVs or not. id imagine they could take a bit more than standard before exploding!!
  7. i think the stock recircs can only take a certain amount of pressure (when you start to up the boost) before youre forced to use bovs. they sound good tho ;)

  9. JWT ecus are commonly offered/sold with accompanying jets. im no expert but id imagine the ecu by itself would be able to up the boost a little, but the jets would really open her up, so to speak. :D

  12. thanks for the advice guys. how im achieving such high boost is a mystery to me. thankfully work is such a short distance away that the Z barely gets time to warm up for me to dare put my foot down anyway (plus the fact ive still only got 2 gears:( and am awaiting a conversion)

  16. safety boost is when the car cuts boost down to 7psi - check your boost gauge on the dash. various problems can cause the car to go into safety - the experts will tell you what they are. hope the car's a good-un mate.

  18. the PTU is a smallish black box located at the front of the engine bay, slightly to the driver side, and at a 45 degree angle. i think theres a lead coming from either side of it.
