cheers folks got it running now, turns out the timing was wrong, not sure how that happened because the doner car ran into workshop and sounded fine, we haven't removed the belt or touched the timing but it was between 5 and 8 teeth out on all four pulleys! retimed it now and it fired up first time just got to put the last bits and bobs on then time for a test drive ;)

hey folks just a quick one i have a uk spec tt and i just swapped the engine from my jap spec one but know it wont start , i have fuel and spark and it cranks but wont fire i was just wondering if theres any difference between the engines, ecu or what else i need to check. any help and advice is gratefully recieved. thanks

i opted for the hks single and to be honest cant say the improvement in performance was as big as i hoped for ( but im an optomist ) but still better than standard, . noise wise i couldnt tell you as the zed had a silly dustbin lid style single exit exhaust on it when i bought it so i cant hear much of anything when im driving....has its advantage though...cant hear the mrs telling my to "f@cking slow down " lol

someone on a previous thread mensioned taking the fuse for the fuel pump out, seems like a plan but i'm not sure which it is ( mines a jap import so everything in jap )

i havent got any bovs but i think i found a cracked possibly leaking pipe on back of engine bout 1 1/2 inch diameter and 6 inch long not sure what it is though. ill investigate in the morning. cheers

well.....finally got zed through mot and slowly but surely i'm getting there. however........she appears to have an idle issue( bout 500rpm) and the old girl stalls when i press breaks to come to a stop. im not the most technically minded but i need to sort this. how do i get her to speed up a bit. any imput is most grateful

how cold was it ?i had this on my quattro last winter, turned out there wasnt enough antifreeze in so rad froze up! was fine the day after when it all defrosted. you never know could be something simple......hopefully lol

Cheers for that. I'm gonna replace fuel filter cos it's been a while but I'll check coil packs aswell defo not plugs though as I replaced them all when I did engine rebuild. Cheers for the advice gents

it wasnt on the limiter when it popped though was only in second its an auto so at first i though box issues but not convinced think it could be fuel. anyone come across this themselves?

could that be causing problems? whats easiest way to remove limiter?
