zx poorly i think
Here you are a quick 2 minute re-write that is easier to understand. Jeff TT I have recently had my the MOT done on my zed and it was running and sounding like a dream. However after a drive last night on which I did not race it, a sound like the exhaust banging has started. When I got home I looked under the bonnet and it appears to be coming from the top of the engine. In my view it`s not a tapping sound but more like a dry metal sound. So I checked the oil pressure via the guage in the car and it was reading 0, however an hour or so later when I checked it again it was showing a reading of 2 any thoughts on what if any problem I have. Prewashing
Washing down with a hose first, but if you have a pressure washer and a snow foam attachment its great fun as well as very effeicient way get the grit and dust off,no need for a bucket just a wash mitten and no danger of grit/ water contamination. Jeff TT

tax code's
From the revenu`s own web site An emergency tax code is a code that your employer or pension provider uses on a special basis until HMRC has enough information about your income to enable HMRC to send them (and you) your correct code. It normally makes sure that you get the basic Personal Allowance (and therefore some tax-free pay) but doesn't take into account any other allowances or reliefs you may be entitled to. Your employer or pension provider will normally keep using it until HMRC tells them what your correct tax code should be. The emergency tax code is set each year and is a number followed by the letter L. The number is the basic Personal Allowance (£6,475 for the tax 2010-11) divided by 10. The emergency code for 2010-11 is therefore 647L. Depending on how it's worked out, you might also see '647L W1' or '647L M1' (meaning 'Week 1' or 'Month 1' - whereby you get a proportion of the Personal Allowance over the remainder of the tax year). 647L also happens to be the tax code you’ll get if you are entitled to just the basic Personal Allowance but in this case it is not an emergency code and you will receive the right amount of tax-free pay. See the section ‘When you might be put on an emergency tax code’ to help you decide whether the emergency tax code might apply to you. see here http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/incometax/emergency-code.htm Jeff TT

Engine casting issues
A couple of pics below taken whilst doing a cambelt change, the water pump is removed and you can see into the water ways, the left hand one has a line of casting flash from when the engine was produced which could potential effect water flow rate. Not a major issue in the real world but this was a very late model and something you see less of on the earlier models, maybe cost cutting as the model came to the end of production? Jeff TT

Still overheating...
I am still puzzled how after the running issues were all sorted and running well it has gone so bad? so quickly too, no offence matey but despite what you hear, a good engine has to go very bad before needing a rebuild, did it have a real major overheat thats caused damage or is you still just have a leak that is causing the overheat issue you have due to loss of water because is so, stop loss of water = no everheat fixed engine, dont give in just yet. Interest in my zed - or lack thereof..
Looking at the add as say a potential buyer would, there is no mention of any service history, by that I do not mean a book full of stamps but mentione about any oil changes (regularly? ) cam belt done (?) maybe new brake pads on such and such date. That kind of information gives a clearer picture of how its been looked after, and reassures potential buyers, even anywork done by a previous owner can be mentioned if relevant age and mileage wise. Can i remove tyres myself?
Best all round is to get a tyre bay to remove and dispose of them, if you cut them off you will still have to pay for safe disposal of the bits as putting them into the bin is a NO NO:no: Jeff TT

Damn clutch again!!

ECU learning
The ecu resets once the battery is disconnected immediately if the battery goes flat and then is jumped started it can lead to corruption, if this ever occurs just switch off and disconnect the battery for a few minutes. Have noticed when an engine is running badly the ecu updates much faster than normal, in fact over just a few minutes the engine balance parameters can change several times faster and have huge value range differences (I prefer to call them FAULTS) with 15 + percent value differences from the left and right banks. Basically if you have removed / replaced the battery or worse it gone flat do a battery reset and go for a mixed drive over several miles at least so that all the rev and load options have been reached ( I do not mean high speed) Its the quickest way to get the ecu up to date on the engine set up, any issues after that can be adjusted for in the normal way. new owner with new problems
Common issue that usually easy to correct, base idle is most likely too low, the throttle balance out and even possibley the timing retarded. It always best to get this checked out on a ConZult diagnostic system as it saves hours of time but you kind of live in a far, far away place, not sure of there any other members on here with a ConZult that live by you, you could always buy the cheaper version on E-bay and post some screen shots of the results and we can help you through any adjustments. Here is an example of what I mean http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=143856 Jeff TT

Zedworld Xmas Bash
Ok here we have it an invitation to all of the members here to the ZEDWORLD XMAS BASH Sunday December 19th 2010 Start time 10.30 am until ....well last year 5:00pm (ish) this bit is up to you guys and your enthusiasm and of course the attendance numbers. Same as last year this is to be a festive party meet for the membership that we are very happy to facilitate the event and can promise a good time, music food and drinks ( non alcohol for the drivers ) Comfortable sitting area with full facilities, heating, toilets etc. the inner area will be cleared of zeds so a larger area still inside ( heated ) for chatting and putting names to faces etc. the refreshments are all free and to include cold and warm food there is a compulsory £1 raffle and in the true Xmas tradition big fat fresh turkey is on offer for the winner and will be a bargain for someone for a quid!! All the raffle money will as always be donated to our favourite worthy charity The Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital. So to cap it off music, eat, drink and zed chat, all family friendly inside ( no freezing pub car park) so names would be a real good start so we can get organised and maybe add some more to it accordingly. Lets see if we can top last year with 40+ in attendance from Isle of man to the Isle of White! London, Southampton, Devon and of course Milton Keynes. and all considering it was minus -2 !! Oh and one more thing, the bash will be taking place in our new workshop in Coleshill, bigger lighter, with better facilities, more parts storage and even easier access via the M6 or the M42 or the A45 presently been fitted out and will be operational from 1st December onwards, detailed address information to be posted in the next week or so as well as new telephone numbers will be posted, however we will retain the present one for a year at least whilst the transition takes place. Some pics from last year A little background to the event location for those who don't know where we are there is parking for 50+ zeds immediately outside with another 50+ in an adjacent car park less than 30 seconds walk so no worries about room to show your zeds off. dipped hid/ full beam at the same time
Easy, locate the earth connection to each dip beam and re-route to a chassis earth and that`s it, dip beam stays on when main beam is used. Jeff TT
