oh oh I really really really ont want to tell you this.... I bought a TT Manual 91 Import 2 Weeks ago. 17" Inch HKS Blow Off Red It had a sticky gearshift - which changed to a nackered gearshift in a week. Twas the clutch. After stripdown it has a racing clutch and very strange flywheel = + £££ to replace. I hope this is not what is wrong with yours. There is a load you can look at before the clutch itself. Search here check all the clutch mechanism and fluids etc. I paid 4K and have spent 1K on maintenance in two weeks next will be an alarm. This is just the pain before the gain.... We will end up with solid sorted motors.... Stick with it....... Cheers Chris

Cheers Clarkey I will now ensure its a stock clutch and flywheel complete with 8 New Bolts (they are six quid a go!) but I am not re-using the old ones now! The Flwheel that is in is strange I will post a picture when its out..chromed ....and now I have decided to hang it on the wall in me living room...that should please er in doors even more. Doing yer own interior....looks canny.....since i have spent my proposed leather money on a clutch flywheel combo could be a option ? Couldn't resist this sorry.......... Jock of all trades....... CheerZ Ginja

ere's an update. Clutch nackered ..strip down and its a aftermarked racing clutch with a lightened flywheel ! so the stock clutch does'nt fit the flywheel = new flywheel an all =+£££. Cant find owt on the clutch or flywheel about the make? Its a fresh import so probably no luck in finding a clutch to match my unkown flywheel ! So looks like standard flywheel to match my clutch. I am thinking of chroming the bits that come out of my Zed and mounting them on the garage wall in some sort of justify the cost gamble..... am I losing it.....certainly losing a bit of wonga... mind I have learnt a load about gearbox & flywheels in one week whilst i have been in the off road club.. Swarfega rules..my gaffa is strugglig to understand what is happening to my grubby hands kind of a reverse MJ... Defo lost the plot now...........TT for Me Z he he now got nee mon ee. Ginja Ninja

oh no..... NA versus TT..... Well not wanting to start a debate. I worked in Japan in 1991 I saw a Zed.....I drove loads round the car park in Nissan Oppama Plant..chased by a Jap security guard on a pushbike everylinchtime....mostly US LH Drive spec...Seat Belt advances when you shut the door... back to blighty 35 Grand nah thanks (read nah enough money) many years after worked in Japan. Now back in blighty so Zed purchase. NA = OK because initially is cosmetic ....but nearby dealer..check autotrader for newcastle 6K for NA Import...with all info from forum I walked cos dealer said deposit on this car so if you want to buy...!...Walked 90 Mile to North Yorkshire for a 4K TT Import. If it was a NA I would have probably bought it.... Thanks Jock...respect to everyones opinion.... Wor lasses opinion isn't too clever 4K motor straight in for a new Clutch !! Cheers Ginja

This seem as strange one an all electric mirrors cause damage !! Well it not running at the momoent because of the clutch problem but i know i have done the the correct thing....havent..I ?

Cheers Andy, Dark now so I could sneak home ! Just kiddin, I have waited 12 years to get this car, new baby forces purchase ! ie - 3rd Child arrival mean Micra Changes to MPV (Well a Tino). So me Primera is no needed I tells our lass and I can cut the monthly costs by opting for a Zed !!. Dee what yee what says she yee always dee. So I used as much info from here as I could and bought a Jap Import TT Manual Wor lass face wasn't ower clever when I limped home the night. But its me thats gan e have tee get my pushbike out...if somebody buys the Primera... Anyway I will get the car up on ramps and have a look at the clutch master/salve cylinder. I need to sort it and improve the credibility that me motor will actually run she said something about selling it !!!!! I will let you know final diagnosis and cure. Cheers I sussed it out just after I sent the mail. However.....its full. So still the problem. Gearshifts OK without engine running. Start in neutral runs but can't engage any gear. Turn off Shift to 1st, Starts with a lurch but can't change gear. Crawling home in 1st ! I will have to wait till it gets dark !! ?

Cheers So I am trying to check the fluid level. eerm Where am I supposed to be looking ? Seems plenty of ressistance on depression. Car was imported Early Jun and bought straight from the dealer. Sorry about my low level of knowledge I an just a begining. Chris

Er anybody help. Gear select OK till switch engine on the.... Can't get into any gear... Embarassing eh... Have to switch off stick it in first then start it with a jump ! Clutch then ?

I er forgot to post this in my Trim & Alarm Post. I need to fit a alarm to my import zed. It has a turbo timer can anyone advise ? I am up in the norteast and would appreciate and advice on anyone who has had a good alarm fitted in the area. And any thoughts on a Tracker ? Cheers Chris

Hullo, I am lookimg to pick up my red zed end of the week. It's a fresh Jap Import - 53K TT Manual. I need a few trim bits button on the dash is missing top left next to steering wheel. Fairlady trim on boot plastic has peeled off. Also rear speaker covers are missing. Any help on sourcing these bit much appreciated. To all who have posted here cheers, I have searched for all the buying tips and used em. I walked away from 2 Zed's both at dealers..one even tried..the boss says someone just put a deposit on this car.....I closed my note book and walked..he still trying to sell 90 Import N/A for 6K.
