  1. Having thought about it long and hard sorry to say I,m giving the Zed up. Letting it go for spares or repairs. Got myself an Audi A4 2.8 quattro. Of course it hasnt quite got the kick of the Zed but its not bad and christ almighty does it go round corners well. So.....Its been a fun 3 years of owning one but all good things come to an end. Guess I,ll be off now to join an A4 forum. Big thanks to all the help recieved from the club and these forums
  2. Just spoken with Zedworld and they explained it not worth just re shelling it. Would need crank out to do the job properly. This would be about the same price as an engine replacement, £1500. Dont think the cars worth spending that much on it. So gonna have to have a long hard think what to do, but looks like my days of owning a Z are over.
  3. £150 for the shells. Can they be fitted with the engine in or does it have to come out
  4. My Z is knocking for a couple of seconds on start up and at revs over 3000. I presume it will need re shelling. What sort of cost would I be looking at ?
  5. I came....I saw nothing.....I went. did enjoy the air museum though thank god....made the 320 mile round trip worth it.
  6. Cant get there until 12ish. Will it be worth turning up at that time
  7. Really interested in this. Will decide nearer the time when weather forecast is available. Would be a 160 mile drive to get there.
  8. OMG please find the answer....... Mine has been doing that for the past 2 years. Had a really bad miss fire a few months ago, but that was a full pot off. Changed the ptu and sorted it, but the miss fire at 2000 - 2200 is still there. Its fine at any other rev, pulls like a train when going through the grears. The answer is proberly going to be "Go though all your connections on ptu, cas, etc....." Which I,ve done a bit but not everything so should really do that and find the answer myself, instead of being a lazy git

  12. Just shows what a timeless shape the zed is. Superb to own today, but must have been absolutly awesome to own 18 years ago against what was on the market then.

  16. I saw some pics in the site gallery of members wheels before and after refurbing thier wheels themselves. They looked beautiful, but none of the posts explain what and how they did it.
  17. Met with Mike, Not the best of starts to a fresh meeting, Reversed in his car, very embarrassing. Changed the PTU, CAS, ECU with no change. Did discover when it does drop onto 5 pots, its No. 4 thats off and no signel is getting to it. We then ran out of ideas. The drive back home (64 miles) was much better than going, only lost a pot once and only for a few hundred yards. But still have the missfire at 2000-2500rpm.

  21. Hi everyone Looking for a big favour from a member. Got a missfire that comes and goes on my 300tt and error 21 (PTU). Read through other threads and most suggest "borrowing" working parts from a running 300, ie coil packs ptu etc... to isolate the problem. Willing to drive to your location. Any takers ????
  22. Just a quick note to say thnx for all the advice and info, especially Apache for giving me Kev's number. Been and seen Kev, What a top bloke, found the problem in seconds and told me how to fix it and gave me loads more advice on other areas of my 300. It was the detonation sensor.
  23. Many thanks for the reply and info. Have rung Kev and popping over to see him sometime next week
