put a reserve on it, but you get charged more the higher your reserve is or put it in as a buy it now. you will find more interest if you list with a 99p start. the other way which is a little naughty is to put it on with no reserve and get a mate to bid to the asking price im sure you can find a mate with an e bay account. if it doesnt sell for more, you tell ebay you hav decided to mutually end the sale and thy refund your listing fee

what makes for a £200 difference in removal of an engine? Surely, an engine out should be a fixed price ?

Does he have clock lights? Does he have any indication of slight movement in the clocks when powered up ? i would be checking power supply and fuses first if it were me. there are speed sensors that control the power steering, but im unsure if any in the dash clocks will stop it working.
