A friend of mine just got herself a Skyline R33 GTS, and while having a look at it last night a few curiosities came up. So, as threatened earlier, here's a few questions on the subject of the Z's erstwhile sibling, the Skyline! :D I'm sure a few of you out there can help the poor lady out (and you can award yourselves... oh I dunno, 10pts per question?!?)
1. Do Skyline's normally have the battery in the small partition between the back seats and the boot? What else is supposed to live in there? The seems to be a fusebox in there too.
2. Do Skylines have a safety boost mode like the Z? If so, would a tank of standard unleaded in a japanese mapped Skyline be enough to put the car in safety boost?
3. Following on from 2, any idea what the standard boost levels are in the R33GTS? The stock boost gauge is the same as the j-spec Z's (-7/+7 mmHg), and hers sits at around -2 at idle and rises to about +2 or +3 at WOT. That doesn't look good to me, and to be honest I can't feel a push from the turbo like I do in the Z. Having said that, the Z has an extra turbo and 50bhp on the R33GTS, so does that account for the differences??
Finally a couple of general questions (same points value :D):
4. There's a box in the engine bay, about the size of a double CD (y'know, two CD cases stuck together like the old Playstation games) covered in japanese writing with a Raybrig logo on it. Since Raybrig make bulbs, what the hell might this box be??
5. Is a turbo timer that doesn't allow you to lock up and walk away until its timer runs out (and always activates even if you only switch the ignition on and don't start the engine!) incorrectly fitted, or just a peculiar example of a turbo timer!
And thats it =) I know it would probably make sense to take this post to Skyline group but I just figured it might make an interesting change of topic for a while :D
Cheers guys
