  3. You can buy 2 x 400MHz DIMMs. If the older DIMM is 333MHz they will all run at 333MHz anyway.
  4. Andy, Just renewed via paypal. Receipt ID: 7HK97912FR697722G Cheers Jonno.
  5. I'll get a set of these for the Zed. I blew one of my stock speakers after fitting an Alpine head unit. I've been looking for an audio upgrade for my STi. Subarus stock ICE is rubbish : Thanks for the heads up.
  6. You can still recover data from a HD following the creation of a new partition. Even after several formats of that new partition. When I return to work I will post the application we use. In the meantime don't write anything to that drive.
  7. Adam, I'm on the look out for another mini for my wife. If you're looking for a Z maybe we can do a deal on mine :) Give me your email address and I'll drop you a line.

  10. Shunters after a sig image made up of 1800 1:1 scale images of his car. Wants to be about 2000 foot across by 450 foot high and be visible from the moon with the naked eye. I can lend you some HD's if you run out of space Vini. On the plus side it should be a little smaller than his current sig *drum roll - cymbal* I thank you!
  11. The 8800GT should give you much better performance than the 8600GT/GTS/GTS Super, and is well worth the extra £50. In fact it will out perform some of the £200+ cards. As for texture memory I wouldn't get too hung up on it. Half a gig with a couple of 8800GTs is more than adequate. Outside of gaming there are are few applications that will get anywhere near this requirement. There are no games at retail release today which use a gig of texture RAM. If you are looking for an 8800gt wait a few weeks as the price has jumped up due to limited supply. They should drop back down another £30. Glad you got your refund :)
  12. AND 19 posts since May 2003! That's got to be some kind of record lol. You're the AntiDuff!
  13. If you're buying a plate off another car I'm pretty sure they'll put it on retention for you rather than registering it directly onto your vehicle. This will mean you'll get a certificate which you'll take to your local DVLA office and they'll process it for you. The retention fee is indeed £105 but includes the transfer fee to put the plate back on another vehicle. I don't think you've been ripped off. I've paid both fees before now depending on how I moved the plates and the availability of the vehicles involved. Also you don't usually get a set of plates when you buy a number. Just a certificate. You then get your own plates made up. Unless of course you specifically paid for a set of plates on top of the price of the registration number in which case :(
  14. This is, and has always been, the problem when buying from massive online retailers like Scan. The price is great but, because the margins are slim, they make you pay for returns. As a PC retailer myself I understand why they do this. The vast majority of hardware returned to us as "faulty" is usually working and not installed correctly by the customer. I'm not saying this is case with your cards but you can see why they would be reluctant to pay for returns themselves. In the same way if you do return the cards, and they find that they work, they can only assume that you did not fit them correctly and return the cards to you with no refund. If this is the case you need to prove they were not fit for purpose, which entitles you to a full refund, but don't delay as this could damage your claim if you did have to go to court...and lets hop you don't have to over something so trivial. Scans terms and conditions are pretty clear and even if they have advised you that the cards will work, their T&C does make it your responsibility to ensure the cards are compatible before you purchase them. I have cut and paste some of the more relevant sections below. Bottom line is, if you can find an article that says they are not compatible and you're nice to the guy on the phone, you'll probably get a refund and just have to pay for the postage. I don't think you can hope for a better outcome than that. If you ring up and play hell and say you'll get your solicitor involved, you're more likely to get mucked about IMO. Good luck with it and as people have stated, I'd make sure you've tried everything before you send them back. update your BIOS, check the SLI selector board on your motherboard, make sure you have any motherboard aux power connectors wired up etc... you may have overlooked something... we've all been there :) Scan T&C: • Without knowing the particular application for which you require our goods and the exact specification and configuration of any existing system into which you intend to install our goods we cannot and do not warrant the suitability of any of our goods for your particular purpose. • It is your responsibility to ensure compatibility of any goods offered for sale by us both with the existing components within your system and with any other goods offered for sale by us. • It is your responsibility to ensure proper installation of our goods into your existing system. • If you properly reject any of the goods which are not in accordance with the contract you shall nonetheless pay the full price for such goods unless you return such goods to us at your cost before the date when payment of the price is due. • No goods delivered to you which are in accordance with the agreement will be accepted for return by us without our prior written approval (in accordance with our returns authorisation procedure) and on terms to be determined at our absolute discretion. • If we agree to accept any such goods for return you shall be liable to pay a handling charge of (10%) of the invoice price. 15. Buy yourself one of these new 8800GTs. It will cane a pair of 8600s and probably be cheaper too.
