  1. As above! One lucky chap!! I've been to many accidents where the cars sustained far less damage than yours, and unfortunately the occupants didn't walk away! Have a speedy recovery mate. Ade.
  2. You're having a laugh, right?? Over rated saloon car?? You must have had a bad Gtr if that's what you think. As for the can't drive bit, well I'm baffled by that, if I couldn't drive, mine would have been in a ditch years ago. It's true that the youth of today are more impressed with the Imprezza and Evo brigade, but surely you didn't buy your cars to impress kids?? Yes it's nice to get attention, but as touched upon earlier in the posts, isn't it more rewarding when mature people admire your car for what it really is? I'm not one for bragging about the cars I own or the ones I have owned, but you cannot compare the Skyline and the Zed, they are fantastic cars in their own right. Ade.
  3. Crikey! :hyper: have you a contact number I can call you on? Ade.
  4. Perhaps it was nicked!
  5. No problem, I'll give you a call tomorrow. Ade.
  6. As title, driving towards Swansea (Ynysforgan roundabout) at about 2pm today.
  7. As title, parked up near Porthcawl fair on Saturday afternoon.
  8. I agree! Get hold of the council a.s.a.p. They will probably take ages finding out who takes responsibility for that road, and by that time the contractors who will probably be carrying out the work will have been and gone! Pity they wouldn't go around writing 'hole' by the craters that seem to be appearing on our roads! and save us a fortune in alloys and suspension bushes! Ade.
  9. Sh*t I couldn't even get the old domino rally to work, let alone do that! Stuff all of that to open the curtains, I've done something far more dangerous! I've trained the Mrs to open them every morning :D Breakfast will be next!!!
  10. As title. Driving along the industrial estate this morning just before ten. Ade.
  11. My thoughts exactly! Good on you! :duffer:
  12. It depends on what style of Kickboxing to be honest. I always did competitions through the full contact route where anything goes! Including knees, elbows, shins etc. We also taught strangle holds, neck breaks and many weapon defenses. So quite a broad style. In comparison I found the semi contact or point scoring competitions were more difficult, as you have to show control and only strike where permitted. Still, it was all good fun and when I eventually have some little ones, it'll be the first thing they learn after walking :D
  13. I'm surprised there's so many on here that do/have done martial arts, and to be honest a refreshing change. It seems that it was very big in the early nineties, thanks to the revival of martial art films (Van Damme etc) but seems to have gone a bit quiet now. I was heavily involved with the scene for over 25 years, winning the Welsh, British and European titles in various styles, the main one being Kickboxing. I should never have given it up, but I found it hampered me at work quite a bit. I'm a copper and found it difficult not to effect an arrest without doing it my way, instead of the way the home office wants!! And the fact that my supervisors weren't too happy with me turning up for work with bruised knuckles and facial cuts all of the time didn't help :D I strongly advise anyone these days to take it up as it is a fantastic way of controlling your aggression, and a way of relieving stress. Good on you and I hope you enjoy it :duffer:
  14. Hello. Sorry to jump on your thread but my question is relevant I think  Does anyone now where I can find exhaust gaskets for the rear of the cats - to the rest of the system? Tried my local factors today but the internal bore of the pipes was bigger than anything they had! Always my luck :headvswal
  15. My parents had a T plate Mgf-vvc and had no problems at all with it. Granted they only did about 40 miles a year :D but they loved it. Only sold it a month or so ago and was an absolute corker! I hated it tho! but I am 6'3 and 18 stone :D :D and found it a nightmare to drive. I'll tell you a quick story why I particularly hate it. My parents asked me to take it for it's mot last year, so off I went roof up so no one would recognize me. After the token mot (it had done 25 miles in that year!) I decided as the sun was out I might as well put the roof down, and my neck was sore from leaning over to see out of the windscreen with the hood up :D So down went the roof and off I went. A song came on the radio "I knew you were waiting" by George Michael and Aretha Franklin, remember that one? Oh I thought I like this I'll turn it up, totally forgetting I'm in a convertible. Next thing I know I'm singing along to the tune. A few minutes pass and I round a corner and have to stop at a junction. I look to my right and there's a gang of teenagers with a few cans of lager. They clock me, the car and worse of all the tune I'm listening to. That's it nowhere to run, nowhere to hide, I couldn't find the volume button quick enough or pray for a gap in the traffic for me to go! After that incident I never drove it again or went near it! Ade.
  16. Thanks mate for your comments. Yes it is a thankless job and I wonder sometimes why I do it, especially as it is getting increasingly more difficult. I have to work with many officers who I wouldn't choose to talk to normally, and often have words with them when they treat people in a manner that I disagree with. I think the problem is that many of them went straight into the job either from college or university and do not know how to deal with the public, or the many trying things that we encounter daily. I went in later and have "lived" prior to the Police! All I can really do is feel sorry for the public when they do encounter one of the many idiots that are about. It's sad to say, but they do out number the good ones. My advice is to bite your tongue and seek advice if you believe you have received incorrect advice, or if you have been spoken to in a way that offends you. The advice can be sought from their supervisors, who will look into the matter for you if you ask them to. There's always me too! Regards, and good luck with your problem. Ade.
  17. When you bought it you must have given your name and address. The law changed with regard to filling in the log books a while back and now it rests on the current owner to notify the dvla of a change of keeper. Therefore the chap you bought it off has put it in your name. It appears that if he is not listed, or his son for that matter, then possibly the lady that owned it might have just given him the log book (if before the law changed) or he might have picked the car up from an auction, where sometimes they hand all documents over. Traders tend to leave their details off log books for a number of reasons too! Hope that lot made sense mate? Ade.
  18. Coppers differ greatly! I'm one and I'm a nice guy! :D Ade.
  19. Ok, as far as the tax goes, unfortunately you have no escape unless you can prove that the piece of road it was on was 'private' Looking at the pics and reading the threads it appears that it is part of the road, so I would claim you had just moved it there. Now moving on to the insurance. Section 143 of the road traffic act 1988 states - ' a person must not use a motor vehicle on a road or other public place unless there is in force in relation to the use of the vehicle by that person such a policy of insurance or such a security in respect of third party risks as complies with the requirements of this part of this act' What that means in short is that EVERY vehicle, if being kept on a road or public place must have at least third party insurance. There is no exception to this rule! Mot's will only apply if the vehicle is being used on a road. I hope this helps folks and as far as - "The police are no longer law enforcers but tax enforcers, quite sickening!!" Well yes I will agree to a certain degree, but everyone who works has to abide to rules and regulations set out by their employer. The Police are employed, and as such have to adhere to policies set out be the government. Sometimes as in cases such as this, I think a little common sense should have been adopted by the officers involved, and friendly words of advice should have been offered instead of sticking rigidly to the law. Perhaps then the Police would have a little more respect. But you all must remember that not all of the Police you meet are the same! ;) Ade.
  20. Both!! Well sometimes :D . I'm a copper mate. I know I've heard it all before, you'll all think this is not a safe place to be now with me on here  I'm probably not the only one that uses the site anyway, and I can be a good source of information, if you know what I mean ;) Regards, Ade
  21. A good point there mate and a very reliable motor. I just found it a little underpowered for my use and didn't keep mine long. But my misses always tells me I'm stupid!! :D Ade.
  22. I've had 6 Range Rovers in various guises (4.0, 4.6 etc) and loved every one! Fantastic vehicle but many suffer with headgasket problems! I was lucky and always found ones that had just been sorted. For the money you are looking at spending you could probably find a 97/98 in fantastic condition and possibly gas converted too! Not sure if that's a little older than you're after, but a hell of a lot of car for the money. And it'll pull your house down, let alone a caravan. :D Ade.
