  1. cheers will join properly in morning as plan to get another (but working) asap just can not warrant the extra space taken up in the drive already have 6 other cars in the drive (4 jap imports) and any more begins to look greedy as there is only the 2 of us.
  2. what model is it? we have mivec putting 240bhp at fly wheel, when doing the leaks around cam belt be careful with the cam sensor its very prone to damage, while at it take the trouble to change the cam belt and aux belts you have to remove the aux belts so makes sense to replace as for the rocker cover thats just a case of unbolting and replacing again change the oil at the same time. to do the cam seals you will need the car off the ground but don't try ordinary ramps on the drive as the bumper is to low to drive onto the ramps you will need a good trolley jack and stands, also before jacking up drive front wheels up onto a paving slab it will give you a couple of extra inches to get the jack under. good luck and pm if you have any questions I will have a look on the workshop manual to see if its any help...........lol its even in english.
  3. :scooter:finally decided to break the z I bought for my partner, it had a siezed engine when I rescued it from the scrapper its a manual with cloth interior stainless quad pipe exhaust and vr racing wheels pm me if anyone wants anything apart from the motor the whole car is straight and apart from fading is in good condition oh and it has the high wing and t-bar roof. sad to be doing this but can not afford to buy new engine and it is just upsetting to watch it rot away. on the brighter side will be looking for another but for now if I can help keep another on the road all the better..................
  4. cheers Richard that clears that up the car has 255's on the rear and 235's on the front makes sense now, never had a car with differing wheel sizes before........
  5. save on the pic they look just like the ones in your pic Znut
  6. sorry no its an ordinary red one tho pink respray perhaps!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  7. anyone else got volk split rims (17") on their car ? if so what is the correct tyre size as mine has 45's on the front and 40's on the back just looks odd. also can you get the replacement centre cap logo's.
  8. Hi all been a member of the forum for a while now but just getting around to rebuilding the z I got as salvage, lady driver and flood water. car details are its standard apart from the 17" Rays volk split rims and stainless sports exhaust, hope to get the new engine fitted soon but not before JAE but will be there anyhow with the Toyota Sera club, my dear lady and I have a collection of jdm imports 2 sera's, a FTO gpx mivec and of course the Zd. will post seemingly daft questions as we go and hope to be on the road soon. please excuse any daft or repeated questions but as they say if you don't ask!!! oh and for anyone passing the sera stand mines the pink sera .
  9. If the tester listed brakepipe as showing signs of corrosion this should not be enough to fail the car, shocks are fairly straight forward to change, basic tools jack etc fog light is either the bulbs blown or could be a fuse, check the obvious and work from there, try cleaning the brake pipe with fine wirewool to remove the surface scab and check for pitting and any signs of a leak, get a quote from another garage for the work if you want a second opinion and if you know any mechanics ask them to take the car in for its retest the MOT tester is less likely to try it on with someone who nows what he/she is talking about.
  10. need to remove air intake manifold and head to check cylinder linings( engine siezed) found most of the bolts but must have missed a few as it will not lift off, am I missing something. has anyone got the instructions for this as my service manual does not list where the bolts are holding everything together. am I just wasting my time and should I just buy another complete engine to drop in or am I better off lifting the complete engine out and performing surgery outside the engine bay. FYI its a 1990 twin turbo with manual gearbox. initially only bought the car for its wheels Volk split rim. but the car has grown on me so will be rebuilding it.
  11. help!!! just got my new zx home from the salvage yard the body is A! but some plank took the plug leads plugs and balance bar off, it will turn over with a socket on the bottom pully but if you try to use the starter it fails to turn at all. the reason for it being in the salvage yard was that it had stalled after driving into a large puddle and indurance company would not pay for investigation into engine prob, I know I will have to rebuild the engine but can anyone point me in the right direction as to why it will not turn over. I am used to japars as I have 2 more on the drive and have the expertise to rebuilt this car but just need to know I'm not missing something obvious cheers.
