Ouch! - bikers need to watch
the driver of the red car knew the biker was there, knew that the bike was gonna go as soon as he had the chance.........and knew he wasn't gonna let him. the bike didn't have a chance, he kept going for the gap, lost, a lucky escape. i ride a bike i used to see something like this at least once a week when i used to ride during rush hour, until it happened to me, one of them BMW 4 x 4's who wouldn't let me past on a dual carriageway got sucked in.......paid for it. i know that whatever i drive i don't have the accelleration / manouverability of modern sportsbike and if a bike is behind me and weaving about i know that the first chance he gets he's gone, so i let him. A couple of questions for whoever wants to answer them, think before you do........ traveling fast down a country road approaching a right hand bend, you can't see all of it, do you cut the white line, even fractionally? would you see a bike behind you if it remained in the same position behind you at all times? Cooling: Viscous or Electric
I have an NA and the radiator blew so i bought a KOYO from luke, found that the viscous fan would not allow the motor to warm up, some days the needle never moved off cold. being a bit of a simpson i then bought a Kenlow 10'' suction (£139)(thought that an NA would run cooler than a TT, it doesn't) found that the motor ran too hot, junked the 10'' and bought a twin electric set up for a modeo diesel from the local breakers (£25) and modded the Kenlow rheostat to fit, runs great now.......and my fingers are happier....thats another story. No locks.... Zero.... Unlockable...
is it really cold down your way, has it thawed a bit then froze again, i know it sounds daft but could one of the linkages be frozen?
-
No locks.... Zero.... Unlockable...
i take it that you've checked that the doors don't lock from the inside, mine did something similar, found that when you operate the lock on the drivers dor interior handle it operated the central locking, do this, then when shutting the drivers door hold the exterior handle up, voila the car is locked (before you do this check you can unlock the car from the passenger side) you'll then have to lean over to open the drivers door from the inside. Not used a key since i had an alarm that operated the central locking fitted. hope i made sense and didn't try to teach you to suck eggs. Stu

Should dealer's be held partially accountable
should be like the restrictions put on young bikers, let them have a choice of lesser powered machinery before letting them lose with the high powered stuff, although this does not stop a new biker from passing his test going to a suzuki dealership and buying a GSXR 1000 and having them restrict it to 35bhp getting the certificate to prove its restricted, and then getting it home and removing the restriction. but the only real limiting factor is experience......I used to ride sportsbikes real fast and in fact rebuilt a ZXR750 to World Endurance Spec (kawasaki france won the title 3 times in a row '89 to'92 i think) took it to the IOM for the TT in 2005 and raced a mate round the mountain section........fastest i've ever been in my life (when i've been in control), some way up hailwood rise we looked at each other and slowed down, the scary thing is that at 186 i (we) thought it safe enough to look at each other, when we stopped i spent some time thinking about the mess somebody would have had to clean up if i had lost it, or the good times i would miss for a few seconds of adrenilin. I still dont drive / ride like a granny, but stay well within my limits......
