Keys, please help!!
I have a cobra cat 1 as well. Is there a long black stick with a thick metal point on the key fob? This needs to make contact with the imobiliser/alarm eye, if that makes any sense. These are individualy coded. When mine was fitted it was into the centre trim. It looks like a small plastic button with a small metal disc/socket on one edge. Regards Brent:cool:

Insurance
Admiral came in at around the same price that you've put up. Again on an import. Put the missus on the insurance as a named driver for emergancies and they nocked £150 off the price. Not sure what that says! Regards, Brent

temp sensor harness
Cheers. Did'nt look into the detail. Just assumed, everything else seems complicated and over engineered, why should'nt such a simple thing as this! May get it changed agian then for continuity. Regards BC

ZX Wannabe in Surrey
I bought mine from a dealer near you in Ripley. Had it back there several times for gearbox repair and all sorts of things. Jobs take forever, were never checked and well, the list goes on. An example, amongst other problems, took it back to get the speedo fixed as it dropped off (to 0) at 80mph. They say they fixed it but tested the car upto 70mph. Whats that all about? After having it serviced at Zedworld, it turns out that they were also using parts (plugs etc) not suitable for use in the uk with our fuel. I wont be taking it anywhere else but Zedworld from now on. Not worth the risk. Regards BC

temp sensor harness
Just a quick note, the wires on the harness are the wrong way round to the 300's. Regards Brent

temp sensor harness
Mines totally nackered too. Bought the part and had it delivered last week. I'm guessing that on later addition models they realised this part gets corroded etc and might need replacement so made it a changeble part. Either that or its from another Nissan with the same connectors etc. Any way, having mine spliced in tomorrow. Old one cut back and finished etc then the new one attaching. Auto Electrician is going to do it for £ 5.00. Bargain me thinks, let you know after it's done. Regards Brent.

sony head unit
Bit difficult to explain, but you can trim the plastic on the inside. Had my camera stolen last night at a party or I would send you a picture. Its the lower inner edge, trim it at an angle of about 45 degrees. Ragards, Brent

Warranty Holdings (help)
Great news though, you've made my day. Well, still have the starting issue, getting progresively worse. Bought a new connector for the coolant sensor and getting it soldered on this weekend, new sensor also. Rear drivers side lights now not working, along with rear fogs. I am right in thinking that it does'nt matter where the warranty was bought to be able to claim against it when serviced by a participating service agent? I'm Starting to sound like Graham Norton. Annoying. Regards Brent

Jeff, would any amount of sweet talking encourage you to take on this companies scheme. LOL Regards, Brent

Warranty Holdings (help)
Chris, thanx for the advice. I've learnt this already following a very expensive gearbox rebuild. The idea this time is that I know they will only cover £ 500 per "visit", but it is making that pay and getting real value and results. The last lot wanted a small mortgage and had'nt even fixed the problem, worst of all, hadnt even tested the goods at the reported speed/fault line. Cowboys. Please read this with a joking positive tone of voice, as meant. The problems not us, its them. (certain dealers) Regards Brent (trying to be nuetral)

Warranty Holdings (help)
Do any of you guys know any reputable garages that do work under WHA (Warranty Holdings ....) warranties. I got one of these when I bought the car and don't want to take it back to the garage where I bought it from. Any of you guys use a good company that supports this company's warranties?

Plastic Coated Trim
Standard ish, Mongoose exhuast. Chuffin nice sound. drive through Ewell when the M25 is closed or on Saturday mornings after a night out on the razz in Croydon. There would seem to be a few in the Coulsdon area.

Plastic Coated Trim
Work near to Ewell, Coulsdon, you would'nt happen to have a black 300 with F'in large spolier on the back that I've seen in the area? Or at the Fairmile in Cobham last night, looked like a mini Jap car meet. Sorry unrelated to your prob though!

What does a fuel dampener do?
Well, at least buying the new one sounds like the right thing to do. Cheers for the buying advice Jay, read everybodies posts about how much you can save but it was just one of those must do weekends, possesed by the handy man bug. Jeff, still have the starting problem, not as bad, but not good. Have spent the last two days cleaning the sensor, but have concluded that the plug on the hanrness is beyond saving and needs replacing. I need to source the plug and get it fitted. Is this something you can do, might just as well change the sensor at the same time. Good news day, stopped the stereo cutting out at high volume, re-earthed it to what must have been the original point. Bad news day, again, the aerial goes up as soon as the stereo is turned on, even CD. This didnt happen before.

What does a fuel dampener do?
Following a service last week, Jeff advised me that the fuel dampener was fualty. Wnet to our new Nissan garage yesterday and ordered said part, expensive for something so small. Just curious, what does it do. Could it's failure be causing problems with the car not starting well?

Hesitation is getting worse
Had similar symptons just recently. Took the car to Jeff TT for a service and bits, problem almost gone. Car still slow to start but not as bad, think this may be down to the battery, meant to get a new one whilst there. Jeff told me the coolant sensor was faulty/very dirty conection. Cleaned it up and most of the problem gone. He does a great Job. Your probs sound worse than mine, but still the same, only cut out once thought. Both the AA and Jeff reported that as a result of the faulty sensor the car was over fueling and flooding its self. Regards. Brent

Uprated alternator
Was'nt quite sure what Jez was on about, Hey hum. Confidence in the original component has been restored, guess mine is just on ots way to the great maker. How hard is this to reach, might just try giving it a good clean for now, check contacts etc. Brent:D

Uprated alternator
Does anyone know if anyone makes such a thing with an aplication to fit the 300. Can remember some articles from years ago featuring a unit in an old edition of Max Power (from the early days, before it became one big advert rag). At the time it was seen as the alternative to twin battery installs. Anyway, answer apreciated as I think my alternator is faulty. Gonna try cleaning contacts tonight but would like to pursue this idea for a later planned ICE install. Cheers peeps! Brent:confused:

HICAS light and XXX
Just a wild thought. Had a similar problem a little while back, the hicas light would come on, steering would get heavy and stereo would cut out when listening to my music too loud. I also reported a loud rapid clicking noise when first starting the car. This was all linked to the battery being nackered. Replaced the battery and the clicking noise and HICAS problems disapeared. Did'nt resolve the problem of slow to start and the LCD display on the stereo at high volumes (not loud) still flashes. Think the battery I bought although rated for the Z still wasn't good enough. Anyone with a suggestion for a good make with model number of battery to buy? Help appreciated. Brent
