backfiring good or bad
thanks for the answers so far ......keep them coming! i dont think i have a boost leak as it is boosting right round the dash gauge and my aftermarket is showing 0.9 and 1.0 at the top of the rev range. is o2 sensor the next port of call as i have done the "blink test" and it showed code 55 no faults , does this include the o2 sensors or is it a separate test as i tried and got no blinks and can o2 sensors just fail and what other symptoms would indicate faulty sensors simon

backfiring good or bad
the car has a two stage boost button fitted which is on steering column which you press for either setting and i dont even konw which is which!, it does not have dump valves, and has decat pipes leading to twin single exit 4.5 inch pipes. it is fitted with a turbosystems ecu which fellow members say is bad but all seems to be fine these were fitted before i bought car any other suggestions simon

backfiring good or bad
need your help again guys car is now all fixed no faults showing and is not missfiring but........... when i am giving it a good rev and step off the acelerator whilst still in a lower gear and engine is decellerating from highish revs i get a load of pops and bangs and have been told that it seems to have flames coming out of the exhausts, now i think this means it is over fuelling? been told it looks fantastic but is this doing harm to my engine and where do i start trying to sort out over fuelling. car is totally standard uk tt manual with a two stage boost button fitted( dont know what the settings are!) never used to pop or bang, only doing it now car is all fixed and running like a dream and wow these things can shift! kindest regards sorry for long post simon

need advice
thanks for all replies... think i have found one of the faults the connector to the ptu going from the right side looking from front of engine was loose as part of the locating plastic surround has or was broken so it was not seating onto connector properly i believe the last mechanic has forced this off with out working out how to remove properly will let you know how i get on thanks simon

Ways to remove W***r off your rear end
maybe you should do what i do sometimes..... pretend that you are nodding off by flopping your head to one side and make the car wander(without crossing lanes unless he is being a total a$%e) that usually makes them back off very very quickly

diagrams
have placed a request with mjp but thought i would ask here as well, i need to get an idea or diagram showing what pipes there are running infront and above the front crossmember as i need to replace all the oil pipes as i have a major leak coming from one of them and my mechanic says he would rather replace them all while he is at it also the power steering pipes (also at front crossmember)need replaced as someone has used fuel line to bodge it along with bl**dy jublilee clips been told not to use car in the mean time which really jerks me off as i have waited four months to get the car on the road and i have only used it for two weeks.the only good thing so far is that the engine is not "gubbed" as originally thought :) thanks in advance simon

engine advice please
need your help urgently.. only had car on road for two weeks and it is pouring out oil from the front, have had car checked by mechanic and this is what he says....he seems to think the engine has a damaged turbo seal on the drivers side beause when he checked for the oil leak he says he found that the oil is leaking down through the drivers side ducting coming from the intercooler??? is this possible and have you guys got any other ideas where the oil is comin from and what kind of costs are involved. the car has been decatted, the car still seems to be still pulling like a train all help and replies eagerly awaited simon 1990 uk man tt

speedo problems
hello guys need your help, got my car on the road at last only took four months!!! have a few problems the main ones are 1. speedo works when it feels like it when it stops working the mileometer stops as well is the speedo cable operated or electrical? how do i fix. 2. very bad fuel smell, so i have ordered a set of smithys fuel lines, but have been told by my NEW mechanic that there are other fuel lines in the engine bay also? 3. has an oil leak from front drivers side, OLD mechanic stripped car back to oil cooler and says he replaced a pipe but it is no better any other suggested places it could be leaking from? apart from that the car goes like hell!! i thought my old 200sx was fast! i have still to try my adjustable boost switch on the highest position! kindest regards simon
