  1. Thanks, Ill check the thread out later on, am looking to getting out and about as much as possible in mine so Ill give uou a shout :-) Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk
  2. These are purely in for aesthetic purposes at the moment, unsure if they work!! The radio was very kindly donated to me by Andy, I paid 30 for the cd player so worth a punt. Full audio setup is also on the cards, just with better speakers and a compact sub to hide somewhere so hopefully these can be functional soon. Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk
  3. Thanks Andrew. Thats a GPS speedo, powered by the cig lighter. It came with the car as the speedo isnt working. Hoping to identify the culprit to this when I strip the clocks out so I can do away with it. Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk
  4. Hi all, thought I'd throw on some progress Ive been making on my 92 NA 2+2 since I got it. I aquired the car mid Max Power transformation as per my newbies thread (first time z32 owner) and set about returning to a nice factory example. Mechanically the car is very good, runs nicely, pulls hard and after a good service has given peace of mind to use through the spring. I take the Z to work at least once a week plus weekend fun just to keep it alive. I'll be using the car in its current state throughout summer before tucking away for winter for a full body and paint restoration at my friends bodyshop (although Ill be doing the work myself, many late nights after work to come!!) Since Jan 21 Ive been hellbent on returning the interior to stock as it was really embarrassing... fur interior panels, wrecked leather seats, drift wheel, dodgy accessories and a crap head unit to name but a few! First thing I got was an OEM steering wheel in near mint condition. Had trouble acquiring the slip ring and gubbins behind it bit was eventually rescued by Keith (North Wales) who supplied all the neccessary items... fitted... excellent!! Tried the horn.. worked for about 3 seconds, then died! So they're now on the shopping list. Other interior items sourced... 2 from Andy (OEM shift knob, original factory head unit), factory CD player, new dash fascia, leather with red stitched shift/handbrake boots and various other trim bits. Beginning to take shape! Now to tackle the fur (on ebay at time of typing fyi). Through multiple sources and sellers I managed to acquire a full set of tweed panels for the interior. A lot of the parts must have been stored in parts cars and had various bad stains from dirt/oil etc. The missus now steps in with a variety of Dr Beckerman cleaners and brushes etc.. the next day every tween item looks brand spanking new!!!! She insisted! Now all the fur is gone, the leather seats are letting it down. Having a conversation with Keith again he mentions he has a full tweed cloth interior in excellent condition so had to go for it! During the install of the seats I found 9.80 in change in the rails... and a 10 Japanese Yen coin (like.. negative 30p?) Most recent purchase after some Targa bags (Keith again, lifesaver!) is an OEM set of shagpile mats... cant wait for these to arrive! Got them for a very good price too :-) So here I am, interior is pretty much nearly done, bodywork is still shot outside (bad dents, couple of bubbles, microblistered paint, scrapes etc and a wrecked turbo front bumper. I got the original NA bumper from Andy however still yet to paint/fit this. Oh.. and the speedo/odo still not working. We've tested the speed sensor in the gearbox and it has continuity and all seems well. Next area to investigate will be behind the clocks. All in all Im absolutely in love with my Z, such a nice experience, had the T tops off the other day and we had a blast! Once the bodywork is sorted, this cherished example will be a shift return to its former glory days and will be lived for many more years. Please see attached pics of the interior then and now, and some exterior shots. Happy Zedding all Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk
  5. Hi Lexx. Yes it does have cruise. Theyre proving extremely difficult to source for an NA... with cruise... pre-airbag. Technically could I fit the wheel with the absence of a clock spring then? A horn has been retro-bodged into the dash fascia via a big red button. This could remain in place until such time a clock spring comes available and I could in the meantime use the factory wheel (without cruise function/horn) I assume? 6. Thanks Andrew. If theres time tomorrow evening Im going to get it in the workshop and strip it down, Ill follow up with what I find. Although when prizing the (already loose) column casing it appears as though its missing. Curious to inspect in there though. Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk
  7. Hi all. Im currently trying to mount a factory steering wheel to my car in my newly started long journey of restoring it back to former glory. Ive bought a wheel in beautiful condition to replace a quick release alcantara type setup. Im really not a fan of this due to how intrusive it is, the wheel has a deep dish and coupled with the mounting boss it protrudes too far in for the driving position. So I have the wheel, the horn with cruise buttons, 17mm nut... but I believe Im missing a slip ring. My car is a 1992 (non airbag) non-turbo model with cruise. Im finding myself at a loss trying to A. Identify which part I need, and then B. Source one. I put the word out on a zx marketplace on Facebook for the part I need, to which some chap cast doubt on the whole thing as he says the NA doesnt have a slip ring at all. I cant find any pictures or adverts for a pre-airbag slip ring for non hicas cars. Can someone please shed some light on this? Surely there must be something between the back of the wheel and column casing to accomodate the horn/cruise/steering angle sensor? Please see pics for reference of my current setup with the dust cover removed, and the back of the wheel Ive just bought. Any help on this would be much appreciated [emoji106] Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk
  8. Marvellous!! Thank you ?
  9. Thanks for this info Lexx, much appreciated. We're servicing it tomorrow so will check out the speed sensor wiring and then go from there ?
  10. Today I stripped the scuttle panels off my Z due to a fatal schoolboy error of starting the car with the wiper switch left in motion from earlier in the week. The frost/ice held the wipers firmly in place whilst popping the arms off the motor ?‍♂️ All back together now and wiping as it should, however I did notice the passenger side scuttle piece will need replacing. The plastic is really brittle and broken away in several places. Is this a common thing?
  11. Hi Arthur, Thank you very much for the offer ? but Im rather fond of the orange ones. Maybe there are others out there like me Im not sure ? I dont hesitate to change big daft orange repeaters/indicators on my bikes (normally first thing to be done) but its different to me on the 300. Thanks again ?
  12. Brill, cheers. I think Id like to keep the TT bumper... it does look more appealing, Im gonna have a go at repairing first see if anything can be done. Failing that Ill get one from a breaker at some point. I assume being a 95 model it has an airbag wheel? So your slip ring would be no good (still grasping the model years and equipment was on each one). Its great that youre in Burnley ? I have no doubt at all Ill be needing some bits from you. Do you have the passenger side wiper scuttle panel piece by any chance? Mines seen better days I noticed today. Cheers
  13. Very helpful Andrew, thank you! I do like the way the TT bumper looks on the car to be honest, and I think Id like to source another one of those, that is if mine cannot be repaired. The 'posts' at the sides of the bottom vents have collapsed from the top half of the bumper if you get what mean? So the bottom section sits low to the ground. The car has also previously been lowered so I really have to be careful which angle to take over bumps etc as it scrapes. Ive been in touch with the guy breaking the silver NA who hopefully has a slip ring for me. He works offshore and returns this week so he'll check then ? And brilliant, Ill check the wiring on the sensor and see whats what when it has the servicing work done. Someone has been in the clocks before. The 'K' from the kmp/h has been blacked out as if altered previously. Ill update you when I have more info. Thanks again!! ?
  14. Yes they look extra stealthy in black!! I live in Darwen/work in Bolton, what about yourself?
  15. I hope the below images work. I have little forum experience and currently dont have a laptop/pc so making do with my phone! Ill give a brief overview of what current state each section of the car is in and the plans for rectification. Body: The paintwork on the car isnt too bad... at a glance. The bonnet and rear hatch lid are both absolutely covered in paint microblisters so ideally will need nailing back right to metal and starting again. The sills have been done to a really good standard (presumably not from the same bodyshop which created the blisters!) and there isnt any sign of structural rot inside or outside the car. There is minor surface bubbling on the o/s rear arch but thats all it is currently. The car has a TT front bumper (can anyone confirm this was an option from factory? Seen quite a few NA models with TT front bumpers) however it is badly damaged and ideally will need replacing. Whether or not I fit another TT bumper or fit an NA is to be decided, I am pursuing OEM though. My background is paint and body so once Ive sourced a bumper (and a rear spoiler would be nice) the car will be in my friends bodyshop, time will be booked off work and it will be having a full external repaint. Looking forward to that. Mech: The engine has a slight misfire on acceleration. Ive already gathered all relevant service items and also a S2 PTU unit and subharness as mines still on the S1 unit. From digging around on here and t'internet in general, a lot of fingers point to a bad ptu which is a culprit of misfiring. If this doesnt sort it at least I can then rule it out and future proof the car whilst Im at it. On idle the engine purrs, no leaks underneath which is good news of course. Underneath the car all bushes and suspension components are nice and tight, brake lines are good, no rot and is just in generally good condition. Some old boy had this car for over 12 years and really looked after it, it has an extensive service record which of course Ill continue to invest in. Interior: Its awful. Ive been gathering parts to rectify the interior. The car was trimmed in the suade option from factory as was evident when I replaced the rear seat bottom section (has the little patch sewn onto the sides. However at some point in its life the suade has been gutted and replace with what can only be decribed as dead skinned cats/yeti fur in grey. Its hideous, and long and I dont like it. A fresh factory approach is needed, to either go back to suade but to be honest I prefer the tweed. Ive aquired spare doorcards which have the tweed on I do like the way they look. The car has an alcantara quick release drift style steering wheel. Its really deep and combined with the boss its quite intrusive in terms of driving position. I have bought myself a near mint condition factory steering wheel and cant wait to fit it however I am in desperate need of a slip ring** **IF ANYONE READING THIS HAS A SPARE NA SLIP RING (MANUAL WITH CRUISE IF IT MAKES A DIFFERENCE) PLEASE LET ME KNOW AND ILL CROSS YOUR PALM WITH SILVER Also the speedo/odo doesnt work. Currently has an aftermarket gps screen in the 12v socket for speedo reading. Speed sensor? Faulty clocks? Does anyone have a suggestion what would cause both of these to fail? Interior cont'd: Ive sourced a new dash fascia with working digital clock (clock missing when I got the car) as the current fascia has a horn button drilled and bodged into it due to this silly wheel. So once the factory wheel is on and the horn back where it should be, I can replace the fascia. I have a factory CD player coming next week, just on the hunt for an original radio head unit to go with it. Seats are black leather (both seats electric, badly torn - need retrimming/replacing). I think thats most of it covered... apart from wheels! Theyre the OEM factory wheels... which have been.... chromed!! Theyre on the recification list. Ill be due to post my wanted items in the classified in due course and hope to hear from you!!
