On Wednesday I asked for a quote on my Z on a limited mileage policy together with a quote for another car. I told Quoteline Direct that it was an import and they put it down as a Fairlady. They quoted a premium on both cars. The one on the other car was very high (over £200 more than Direct Line)so they referred it to the underwriter. I called them back Friday as I had not heard from them and the quote on the other car was still very high. When I asked to go ahead with the Z insurance, only to be told that they do not insure imports. As my new car arrived at the weekend, I was left uninsured on the Z. They could not care less and suggested that I phone up Tesco for a quote.

It's up to you, but I would not touch them with a bargepole. They should have stood by their quote and sorted it. It was their mistake not mine. To leave me in that situation was unforgiveable.

I think that we need to name and shame some people so that they know they cannot get away with incompetent service.

Sorry to hear about that David.

Have a word with Adrian Flux(think thats how its spelt).

I have a fully comp policy on my 91 Import for approx £760(plus £30 for breakdown cover).

Based on a 26yr old(me) with 5yrs NCB and in an area of South East London(which is classed as very high risk). My Zed is fitted with a Cat 1 alarm system(top job Bob!).

Excess is high - but I'd rather pay a high excess if I needed to fix my Zed than the crazy £1200+ premiums I was getting quoted!

Thanks for that Trev.

The problem is that I need to move my no claims on to the new car and put the Z on a Classic limited mileage policy. The premium on these about £350 a year and you do not need a no claims. The mileage is limited usually 1500 or 3000pa

Still trying to sort out cover. Ithink that I move my daughters Saxo on to a new policy and use the 70% no claims that is on that one.
