G-Sensor

Ok Ok dont laugh, does the 300zx have G-Sensors?

Nope !

But you can buy them. Also, I believe the Skyline GTR34 V spec (is that right) display cornering G through the clever cockpit display system.

GTR's have them fitted for the ATTESA/HICAS but I cant find any info on them - I thought that the Zed might have them too, though I must admit that I have never heard of such a thing.

My big bass speaker is spinning out my HICAS and G-Sensors causing the rear wheels to work erratically frown.gif

Is the HICAS on the 300zx purely mechanical?

Has anyone here had problems with large bass speakers causing their HICAS to act irrationally?

Wierd...

..hang on a minute lads... I got a great idea..

can't you find the G-spot unaided then? wink.gif

Hicas on the Z is mechanical (hydraulic) up to 1994 if I recall, electrical after that.

And if I recall, the few GTIR's that have the ATESSA-TS (or whatever it's called, the electronic system rather than the plain LSD's) had both lateral and vertical G sensors..

Anyhoo.. Not sure on the ol' speakers affecting HICAS - maybe too much magnetism around the stuff?

I think it is the bass frequency and not the speaker magnet causing the problem - it seems to throw out the G-Sensors and cause the HICAS controller to do very strange things with the rear wheels...

So I guess it is remove the bass frequency from the equation as it screws the HICAS controller.. frown.gif

A strange phenonenon indeed... with the stereo turned up and the bass thumping, the HICAS unit actually steers the rear wheels to a degree that it actually feels like someone has nudged into the rear bumper as I am driving...

I would have thought Nissan would have tested vibration on the HICAS controller unit...

Hmmmm...

Gio, 300zx is an anarcho syndicalist commune, not some jumped up forum where power is dictated on the basis of some moisten bint pulling swords from rocks.

Glen, have you tried lining your bass box with bacofoil??? At last a PROPER use for it outside the kitchen!! LMFAO I think it may well be the magnetic field causing the problem rather than the bass frequencies - I'm sure Nissan tested the systems under harsh road conditions....

Just thinking that the foil may well shield the sensors from the magnetic field caused by the speakers. Also, have you tried re-routing the power cables???

CheerZ,

Andy

Isn't the foil aluminium? It's not magnetic material so surely this won't do anything?

Would stop electrical interference but not magnetic I would have thought.

Not sure how the G sensors work but they are probably some type of gyroscope in which case magnetic AND bass thudding against it would not be good.

Move the bass enclosure to your headrest away from the sensors?

Erm, good question but I *think* it will still work.... as long as the shield is conductive, I *think* you get induced currents etc but I could well be wrong.... Need to find a car forum where everyone is electronic engineers rather than IT bods LOL

CheerZ,

Andy
