dvi to hdmi on the TV and dvi to vga on my monitor

Try turning it all off, and just plugging in DVI to HDMI lead and not to your monitor, it may sound crazy but some times ati cards work wierd

Read this, http://www.rage3d.com/Board/showthread.php?t=33930015 may help, especialy further down, also have you latest Catalyst drivers/software.You may also get a better result going Composit(S-Video pinout)to HDTV.

And i take it you are doing it like this, http://www.amd-firefly.com/firefly2007/fireflyclient.jsp

I know its a different card but same applies.

I'm running a 45 inch hdtv through dvi using the catalyst suite without any issues. It picks it up as a monitor straight away. If it's not even picking up a name and a second monitor it might be a input select on the tv isn't switched on.

I have a vga and a cvi input but you can only use one at once so might be worth checking plus as Tony says it might be worth upgrading to the latest drivers to solve any issues

i think the hdmi (of my 360) may be faulty i have got it to detect the HDTV now but no display. The tv says no signal but the pc knows its there now but if i move the cable a bit the screens flicker and cause my pc to go crazy. i have a fault on my 360 where the display goes off for know reason i thought it was my xbox but maybe not.

thanks for all the info guys:duffer::duffer:

Im not really up on AMD cards, does the pc see the tv in your display settings, you might just have to click the "Extend the desktop on to this display" tab

sometimes it does sometimes it doesn't i have tried that but nothing the only time i get any display is when both are connected and the pc boots up but the screen has red all over it like its not tuned in right (fuzzy) but as soon as windows comes on the screen goes blank

I use VGA straight to the HDTV from the Xbox360 and it's still capable of full HD. HDMI is just digitally connected and suffers less from analogue noise. There's not a lot in it between my HDMI-connected HDV camcorder and the VGA-connected Xbox360 though.
