Your revs should be about 850rpm on tickover? the revs will jump up when fan is on try pressing ECON button that will drop the revs when fan is on think the high revs are something to do with aircon pump being used until you press ECON button?

Tried pressing the econ button, but nothing happens,It revs higher even if i touch just the windscreen blower, what would cause it to run at 1000rpm instead of 850rpm?

Cant say im clued up on these zeds but could be something to do with the idle control valve? thinks its at the back of the plenum on the right next to batt? blocked or something? or maybe you can just adjust the idle some how? im sure someone on here will get to the bottom of this??

Both of my zeds have done this, dont know why, maybe just the car giving it some extra revs to handle the fan. If i turn it off, the revs drop back down

But it works, seems the norm to me.

Im sure the reason to high revs when fan is on is due to the aircon pump doing the work? but the ECON button should drop the revs back down when the fan is running which will save a bit of fuel in the end!

1000rpm is high though isnt it? I have an aftermarket electric fan, it never did this before I had my new engine fitted, could any of my mods cause it to rev higher?

Mine does the same, its normal for zeds to do it (i think!)

Yes, its normal for the revs to be higher with Aircon on, the engine has to handle the load of the aircon pump. When you have it on econ mode (which is what you should be running most of the time, especially during winter) then the revs should be normal.

My NA idles at about 700rpm normally and when the aircon is switched on, it goes up to about 900rpm. Switch it to eco, and it goes back down to 700rpm

Im not pressing the auto button, im pressing the windscreen blower, i try pressing the econ button but nothing happens, just over 1000rpm at idle without blowers on is still a bit high isnt it? 1500rpm seems to high with blower on dont you think?

That also turns the air con on, but you can't use the eco button with that.

Just take the grey plug of the FICD valve, thats what bumps up the revs when the climate control is on.

I dont have air con any more so dont need any more revs to drive the compressor etc.

Where is this plug situated, will I still be able to use the blowers?

Yep mine works fine, its doesnt effect anything else.

Idle control valve at the back of the plenium on the battery side (RHD).

There is a yellow plug on the top (this controls the idle)

On the body of the idle valve - the unit screws into the side of it pointing towards the centre of the car with a grey plug.

Just unplug it.

Then your idle wont go up by 200rpm when the climate control is on

(heater or aircon)

This was fine for me as I have no aircon or aircon pump. Nissan added this system to allow the engine to cope with the load of the aircon pump running at idle. I'd only really recommend this if you have removed or disconnected the aircon.

I had a problem with my fan, the rpm was also high. The connectors to the water temp sensor on the rad pipe was dodgy, if i wiggled it the fan would come on and the rev's would go up. I think its a safety feature if the ECu doesn't know the temp the fan automaticaly comes on just in case ?

Anywhoo, i'd disconnect the battery, clean the connectors for the temp sensor and clean the idle controll valve while your there, disconnecting the battery for long enough should re-set the ECU.

have you done an error code check for the temp sensor?

Hmm yeah but if its just going up by 200rpm when the blowers are on and goes down again as soon as you turn them off then its deffinatly by design.

I have a aftermarket electric fan, I have also had a brand new wiring loom, how do I check for error codes?

Did you put in new wiring loom and how much was it?

Z tech put it in for me whilst the engine was out, altogether, the loom cost £200 and labour was £150, its probably more when the engine is in though.
