NISSAN PRIMERA, advice needed ??

Sis-in-law has an 03 plate Primera and the different speeds on the heater blower motor has packed in. No blower and no heat ! Cant see any way of getting access to the heater motor to run an independent power source to see if its kaput or not without removing the dash ?

Does the dash need to come out, and is it more likely to be the switch ?

Bearing in mind the different speed levels are altered through the buttons for the radio, via the wee LCD Screen in heater mode, if that makes sense ?

Any other way I can test it ? Checked all the fuses and easy stuff already.

Lastly, any easy way to remove whats needed without snapping the inevitable clips ?:(

Cheers in anticipation team, as she is doing my nut in !!

Alan.............

When i replaced the airbags in mine it was a nightmare to do, hundreds of torx (T20) screws to remove the glove box and the top panel, i think this is the only way to get access to the blower. I have a great screwdriver i bought just for this job, i'll give you that as well.

DONT remove the control panel. lol. it is very very rare they pack in in any car. if it doesnt work on ANY speed at all then check the plug & connections to the blower motor. if it work on ONE speed only, then its always the diode in the resistor pack thats gone. IIRC you can access the resistor pack with just removing the glovebox, and i think the motor comes out from underneath on passenger side. i will check on this though.

Hi Mario, i don't think he was going to remove the control panel just the glove box and the top panel for the passenger air bag, Alans as big as me lol so not much room to move about but with the top panel removed from the dash it should shed more light to see what he's doing.

Steve and Mario,

Cheers guys, all help much appreciated. Aint working on any speed at all !

Unfortunate thing is, they need the car for work, so dont really want to put it off the road for any longer than need be.

Do have sympathy for her, as I have been in the position of using a car with no heater or blower and in this weather, its a right pain !

Any more advice, keep it coming as its all been taken on board here !!

Thanks again,

Alan................
