Hi all.

My Z shakes really badly when you break hard froma high speed. Why could this be? The discs and pads all look ok.

It doesnt feel very safe so want to sort it asap

if it's from speed, it's more likely the tension rod bushes

I had this problem when i first bought my zed.

Braking at high speeds was a bitch all i got was a massive shudder at the stearing wheel, so i fitted new discs and pads at the front and that sorted it out.

Your calipers may be partialy seized up, mine did this and I thought the discs were warped but turns out it was the calipers.

ABS ...going crazy...but more than likey ,your disc's are warped ....

...

Sorry to highjack this thread i have got the same prblem low speed is ok go over 80 and hit the brakes hard and it shudders like hell i have changed the front discs for brembo ones and changed the pads and its still doing it.

Brake judder is usually either Warped Discs or Worn tension rod bushes. Check to see if the front tension rod bushes are leaking. (they are Gel filled)

It may be your rear disks, especilly if the car has been stood with the handbrake on for a while. I had a judder on my supra, changed the front disks and it was still there, took it to a garage and the fella drove it 50yrds and confidently stated rear disks and was correct.

Mine has the same problem, checked discs they are fine, replacing tension rod bushes and will see what happens next. HTH

Ok, so how do I know if its the discs or bushes?

The pads and discs don't look too old and have ben uprated to grooved discs and red stuf pads.

Its not possible to visually check the discs with them fitted and condition is'nt an indicator.

Its easier to check the tension rod bushes. With the car up in the air check the condition of the tension rod bushes. Severely worn tension rod bushes will be leaking, but not always the case. With the wheel off the ground, check for movement by holding the wheel firmly and trying to shake it, this will also check for play in the rest of the suspension/steering bushes.

The tension rods are the lower arms that come off the lower wishbone at an angle and bolt up to the front crossmember....I cant find a picture, maybe somebody else will have one.
