changing revs 100-200rpm

when i take pressure off accelerator, the revs jump up about 200rpm, and the go back down when i put pressure back on

a bit of a pain on the motorway , when your cruisin and just feathering the throttle

just had box off to fit new engine

so could it be a sensor, ive not connected properly, or bad connection somewere

or possibly, faulty torque converter, as i did not put mine onto the new engine, as one was already fitted when i got it,

so rather than damage something, swapping them over, i left it on ??

hope its something simple, dont fancy dropping that box again:headvswal

My auto started doing the very same recently Tizer. it felt like the torque convertor was locking/unlocking at cruise speeds of around 60 to 70mph.

It was suggested to me that it may be TPS adjustment? I checked it and it was out. Reset the TPS and it seems fine since.

Although I've noticed on regular checks that my TPS volts keeps drifting so I think the TPS is probably shot and needs replacing ;)

how do you check it ?

i presume thats the black box on the side of the throttle bodies (front of plenum intake)

At the risk of sounding like a show off It was easy for me as I've got diagnostic software on my car pc, just pulled up the tps volts on the screen and adjusted it to 0.54volts (was 0.64volts) took 2 minutes. yes it's the little black box on the side of the nearside throttle body. Theres a link on here somewhere for checking the adjustment with a test meter?

cheers m8

will av a look in the faqs

im bloody crap with electrics lol

When your cruising they do lock but soon as you release the accelerator it unlocks then once your back on the accelerator it should lock again after a few moments giving you a direct drive  well mine always has

If it,s jumping on and off lock whilst having your foot constantly on the accelerator then as suggested it sounds very much like a TPS problem giving the gearbox ecu dodgy data and confusing it

Hope you get it sorted Steve but do let us know what it turns out to be .

Yes bud , all should do this it,s just locking and unlocking , it has to unlock when you take your foot off the gas or you,d get engine braking like you would in a manual when coasting in gear .

If you use the autobox manually , ie shifting from first to second to drive with overdrive off it locks in every gear to give you better acceleration , I think in normal drive mode it only locks in third and fourth, believe me you can feel the difference , especially in second gear

The box,s feel different with O/D on and off , O/D off ( no fourth ) when you take your foot off the gas in 3rd you do get a little bit of engine braking even after the T/C,s unlocked , O/D on ( in fourth ) take your foot of the gas and they just keep rolling with no resistence at all . HTH Steve

BTW if any of this is wrong i,m sure someone will put me right :D
