300 jobs go as Motor World stalls

THREE hundred jobs were axed today after car parts and accessories chain Motor World went into administration.

The Huddersfield-based group has suffered from a severe sales slump, said joint administrators Dermot Power, Graham Newton and Matthew Dunham, of Manchester accountancy firm BDO Stoy Hayward.

As a result, they have shut 95 of Motor World's 237 shops, including ones in Bramhall, Wilmslow and Atherton.

The other 142 outlets have been sold to Pacific Retail, a company funded by existing investors Bailey Capital. This has saved around 500 jobs.

'Downsizing' apparently.

IIRC one of the guys on japnortheast worked in the Pallion shop , when he went to work the other day he was asked to hand over the keys.If I have it right there is a thread on japnortheast.co.uk

haha...i know those guys they are from my local Lewes branch :D...

which is closed now..:(

one of them had a sweet skyline....probably having to sell her now..the crunch continues

read in a local paper about this , as said some are staying open and gonna be under a diff group i know this is the case for my local store

to be honest i didnt think they'd last much longer

237 shops, and I've never seen or heard of them...actually think I might of come across their website previously, but presumed they were just another online store.
