I plan to do the exact same thing soon just bin concentrating on other area's of car

I was thinkin of a water /oil/exhaust temp guage's (haven't seen many exhaust ones though)

and will prob go for mechanical with same colour display as dash if can be sourced;)

air/fuel gauge and boost pressure gauge are a must if your planning on engine upgrades

did see some gauges for air pressure etc does anyone know where a circular gauge (same as water/oil) can be sourced but for exhaust temp

all the one's iv'e seen are either a rectangular box or something with digi display or an even bigger display with free 70' equilizer:rofl:

fleebay usually

thanks bud prob the only thing i haven't typed in to e-bay

found some nice one's now :D

Just to let you know the din plate from zcentre, you have to glue it to the centre console. It has no fixings. I also bought the 3 hole one then bought 3 defi gauges ( 52mm ) but all 3 wouldn't fit, it's too tight for defi's. I ended up pillar mounting them. Although 2 would fit fine, just 3 is a problem.

(auto guage/lb pro(blue dial)/stepmaster & stealth 06)

think iv'e decided on water/oil/exhaust temp

I still havent a clue as to wether mechanical or elec what is the most reliable

depends on the gauge in question, with a mechanical gauge you normally have hoses threading through your dashboard, electrical however are normally just wires.

Personally i prefer the mechanical gauges because i get the feel they're more accurate because they're not just getting a funky signal from a foreign wire

yeah ill be going for the mechanical's seen a fair few nice one's on the bay

think i'll put 2 in cubby hole under stereo and prob some kind of badge to save a gap in middle if only 2 /52mm clocks can be fitted there

question is where do i put the 3rd ?

3 can be fitted there, i think only the bezal catches but most gauges come with bezal built permanantly attached

Thanks m8 will have to just see what they fit like closer to the the time a must though i think with the reputation of the standard gauges and do plan to make a few  engine mods

u got any after market's in ur's??

Electrical gauges. I would'nt fit a mechanical Water temp or Oil temp/pressure gauge into a car.

In fact I believe mechanical gauges are dieing out, they only ever really get used for Boost gauges these days.

Electrical gauges also have the advantage of Peak warnings and memory readings.

I would trust an electrical sender more than a mechanical gauge for accuracy and response.

Modern eletrical gauges are likely to be more accurate and quicker responding than mechanical gauges also.

yeah i noticed the warnings on the digi's good idea:D

agree that some mechanical gauges do look dated brings back memories of a 924 i use to have lol:rofl:

but i do like the look of certain ones

has anyone got any pics of gauges (mechanical or/digi fitted to compartment under stereo?)

I had these Autogauge Digital gauges a couple of years back in the DIN slot. Cheap gauges, but they did the job. I wouldn't reccomend Smoked faced gauges though, not unless you spend money on the likes of Defi. They have poor daytime visibility.
