Is it wise to buy a 20yr old Ferrari??

For £14,995 you get this......

i for one would defo buy it but the price is slightly high for the mondial ive seen a few in very good fettle for around the ten grand mark.......look for ones that have had the clutch done recently though as it a big and expensive job.........how old is that car and to my mind it still looks the dogs nads imho

That's what I plan to do for my next car. I don't like the Mondial though ! It would have to be either a 365 GT/4 BB or a 512 BB Boxer. If you like it buy it ! That's what I say !

Have a look at...

www.khpc.co.uk

Personally I wouldn't buy it. I don't like the look of it (too square-ish) and the only attraction is the name.

I do have a soft spot for Matras though ...

It seems only the early Mondial's and Ferrari 365 GT4's are around the 10-14 Grand mark nowadays.

The early one's Andy?

....or the later model?

For me I'm also interested in the History behind the Ferrari name, the development of the models, that sort of thing - Not just because of the Ferrari badge(not much! biggrin.gif ) smile.gif

I find the boxy/sharp look appealing on a car of this age - explains why I like the look of the BMW 635 csi! biggrin.gif

The later 850Ci's are now quite cheap and stylish in an angular 1980s sort of way.

Murena's really.

One small point

Ferrari = Red

The Mondial is regarded as the worst modern Ferrari ever designed and produced. Gutless engine, appalling build quality and untypical body styling. They are a total disaster, check with a Ferrari dealer/mechanic before you go near any of them. That is why they have been and always will be this cheap. It is only really because bunches of sad people keep buying them that holds the price up this high. Otherwise they would be Fiesta prices by now. Oldest modern to go for 308GTS but if you can afford a little extra go for the later 328GTS better build and slightly larger engine. Sorry to be boring but I nearly bought a cheap Ferrari when I ended up with the 300zx, servicing and repairs make the 300zx look cheap to run too! Oh yes final point is the pedals are made for short legged Italians so the driving position is crap and they are offset so far over you get back ache on a long drive from the twist in your spine. Wait til the little lottery win comes up and get a beautiful 348/355/360 or big lottery win and a F50 not the damned ugly Enzo either.

There's a dodgy car show room round the corner from where I work. He's got one of those MR2's with a yellow 355 body kit on it going for £17,995. It's a piece of crap and he's selling it as a GENUINE Ferrari!! What a con-man!!!

He's also got a real 555 going for £26K but it's TOTALLY SHAGGED OUT. You would have to spend thousands on it. Z parts are a lot, but quadruple it and more for that little prancing horse!

i know somebody who has a 6 series just like that for sale.........my e28 528i puts that to shame its so clean you could eat ure dinner of the engine

Do not buy it!!!!!!!

The mondial was a disaster. Trey save your money, if you want a Ferrari wait, the bubble is going to burst soon, and you will get a 348 off some poor bastard who has invested in stocks, and houses very soon.

The Murena and earlier Bagheera were a nice concept but weren't they powered by cr*p Simca engines?

No , just cant make my mind up!!

Dont know if its the Mondial or the

Matra or is it Tatra!, thats the ugliest car

i`ve seen for ages.

Surely if you are going to get a Ferrari

its got to be good to look at.

I am seriously thinking about a 348 as my next car - very similar to the 355 and you can pick up a good left hand drive one for just over £20K

Running costs are on average around £2K a year I have read.

Now you`re talking.

A 355 would do just fine - all I

need is the money!

Does anybody know any sites like ours

that I could visit.

I`ve heard the Ferrari club lot are a bit snooty!

Can't join the Ferrari OC without owning one. I go on www.pistonheads.com it has a Ferrari and a TVR forum and they are sensible people too.
