Stranded! Need help bleeding the clutch - High Wycombe area

hi,

If anyone is available and can help out I need to get a load of air out of my clutch system by bleeding it several times. If you have done this yourself before and are local perhaps you can come over or I can come to you for help.

Can't trust nissan, can't drive to far to a 300 specalist as the air in the clutch heats up and disengages it.

If possible before Friday 6Sept?

Thanks for any advice also,

Jez.

Jez,

If its any good to you I live in High Wycombe, 5 miutes from the centre and have alot of experience bleeding anything that can bled on cars! (Spitfires and Mantas tend attract air in every pipe!) I'm basically free anytime (work will just have to wait!) just e-mail me, whatever...

Hi Vijay...

Actually - I wrote most of that FAQ!!!

I have air for sure. The fluid is not going hydroscopic at all, especially as I put DOT5.1 in and the clutch position is right at the bottom when cold and completely disengaged when hot....

When I bleed it I'll use DOT3/4, a lot cheaper especially if you plan to use a few bottles!

Thanks Rik, I may take you up on that offer. I can't see your email address, mine is jez300@bigfoot.com

lol - I did notice the name but just assumed it was someone in the U.S.

If you guys need any help, I can come over tomorrow if needed.

Good luck,

Vijay

Hi,

Yeah remember the 2nd bleed valve in the engine compartment! That threw me for like a week at one point last year.

Once I discovered the 2nd bleed valvle bleeding the system was fairly straight forward (obviously mutch easier with 2 people of course though!).

Is it best to bleed the clutch when the car's hot or cold.

I would also guess when hot as the air has expanded causing the problem and I assume will be more easy to bleed off. But maybe there's a reason to do it cold.... other than burning your hands????!!!

the only way to bleed these cars is to draw air from the nipple using a vacum as pumping the clutch will never get rid of it. had mine done.

Where can I buy one for not too much cash?

Allparts sell a two man bleeding kit - but £70

I think the second one fits over ur brake fluid resevoir, so I don't know if it would be any good.

I think the first option £43 sounds best as it sucks the fluid and air out like in the FAQ to solve the problem. I wil go to see if halfords have something similar tomorrow...

otherwise I guess I'll order from the website and wait.

But first - RIK - do you have one of these please????? smile.gif

Thanks Vijay, guys...

I've ordered the first one that draws fluid from the system for 42+vat and delivery + £55 frown.gif - should be here tomorrow

(I tried the the usual Eazi Bleed from halfords, took it back as it doesn't have the right lid for a 300 clutch reservoir as it's not a screw thread.)

**!!$£""£"&& - That's my attempt at swearing!

Got the "High quality, one person-hand operated kit that allows fluid to be drawn from the bleed nipple allowing either bleeding or full replacement of systems. Does not require brake reservoir caps".

Then plugged it onto the car and realised that you need some kind of high pressure air hose to connect to the container... it's not a pump... bugger...

Well it's probably back to halfords for the £4.99 hose and the manual method, it's my only choice I think?

Has anyone got the Eezibleed kit to work with the additional Multi-Purpose Cap you have to order direct from gunsons?

That sort of thing can normally be attached to the spare wheel and the air is used to pressurise the container..it should mention it on the box(..not that you wouldn't have checked..)but I would have thought for £55 it would atleast have given you the option?

Rik

Nope, it doesn't mention anything about attaching an air supply or the fitting of one and has nothing to attach the unit to any spare tyres. How crap of Draper!

Jez.

Ok,

Bled the clutch using a halfords normal bleeding kit, the front of the car raised a little. Did the Slave then the master. Same problem...

Does someone have a vacume bleeding system that I can borrow, or maybe come to your house to do it. Somewhere around High Wycombe?

It's getting to the point now where this is my only car and need it... also I want to use it for my Honeymoon next week?

Yes, I could try ordering another bleeding system, but it'll come to late and probably still not fit? Help!
