Question: What go's 'snap, crackle, pop!'

 

Answer: My Phoenix Gold 4 Channel Amp on the way to work this morning!!!!

 

I think I've fried it! Anyway it's an excuse for an upgrade!!!!

 

Does anyone have any recommendations for a replacement Amp, I listen to a lot of NIN and Spineshank type music (NU Metal Type stuff) I'm looking for something to provide plenty of Quality, response and power.

 

Has anyone any recommendations??? or even old kit there selling, Bob, I'm sure we may be able to do some business on an Amp.

I need two aswell. Possibly a 4 channel jobby to power two sets of Rockford Fosgates in the rear and a 2 channel for a set of Rockford 6x9's for the doors.

 

Can you get me the Rockford 6x9's aswell Bob???

I'm up for a group buy, I'm driving some Infinity Kappa Componets in the front and 2 JL 8" Subs in the back, so the current setup is 4 channel. I may want to add 2 fullrange speakers in the back in the future in order to provide more mid range, I'm not sure I could do this without buying a second amp though.

I don't need an amp to drive subs as I'm using my Vibe Enclosure which drives itself! Nice bit of kit aswell.

 

I'm intrigued by these 1 Farad Capacitors aswell, they look the Rotts Rocks with the LED readout. Thinking about split charging aswell.

split charging is good if you play your system for long periods of time without the engine running, but if this isn't the case, it's often just as beneficial to change the battery for a deep cycle or bigger version (if possible), and also upgrade the engine bay wiring (mainly the power from alternator to battery, and all earth's)

 

That is unless you have a huuuuuge demand on your battery (and I mean huuuuuge, I was running 3 amps rated at 60a each off a standard battery and had no problems at all.)

Just checked me fuses, yep, blow the 20Amp fuse, I'll have to replace it and see if it everything still works.

Mike, while you're at it, check that no bare wires (power/earth/remote) are touching causing a short circuit.

Just replaced the fuse, not tried it yet, but there is a *slight* amount of bare wire showing on the +Power cable.

Did you insulate any bare wires too? they don't have to be touching each other, as the amp casing (AFAIK) is metal, it could short on that.

I listen to most Metal appart from Limp Bizkit stuff, I would liten to the 'RnB' or 'Rap' shite but I have taste
