were with tescos at the moment, just do a search online theres loads out there. We pay £16 a month a the moment, was half price if took out online.

the one we got we have to pay the first £60 of the bill (you pay the lot then vet sends the forms off)

HTH

Ask at your local vets for pet insurance, thats what my sister did. If her Labrador did need anything done she had to pay up front and then claim it back through the insurance.

yes she will. My wifes a night manager there;)

I use more than, costs the same as Tesco a month for me and gives an extra £3k cover on vets bills.

I was with Petplan but found their renewal prices to go up. I then looked at Tesco online and they worked out the best, having 2 options of cover. One thing to make sure is that they don't exclude an area if you've claimed on it once which is what Petplan used to do (not sure about them now), with my last dog they exluded anything on her skin cos she had a rash once!

Another plan is to put the money aside every month and keep it for if/when you need it

I used animal Friends. http://www.animalfriends.co.uk You need to read the small print carefully and see which company offers you best value for money. Some companies limit the number of claims you make in one year or have very low payout limits and high %age to pay out on the first part of any claim or repeat prescriptions. Also as your dog is a pedigree you probably paid a big wedge for it. Make sure your company will pay out the full value in the event of death and check how long they will pay out on death. Some companies only cover for 3 years , some for 8.

Remember that while your dog is young you will (hopefully) have little if any need of insurance.

At about 8 years of age you will find it difficult to change insurance companies or obtain insurance if you haven't already got it.

At about 10 years of age your dog will start to use the vets more regularly and you will start to claim.

It is imperative to check the benefits you will receive.

where, the one in sunderland or your local tesco

I use petplan, needed £1000 vets bills last year and they paid with no problems.
