Any pc gurus out there can help me out??? have got the dreaded click of death from one of our Hd's.

 

nothing to important on it just the normal stuff like our wedding photos etc:headvswal:headvswal:headvswal

 

any ideas how they could be extracted

depends on the exact fault. can try the old put it in a plastic tesco bag and pop it in the freezer for an hour, then put it back in the pc asap so its still very cold and might give you enough time to extract the data?

 

only works 1 in 10 times and depends on what the actual fault is on the drive, could be one of many things giving the click.

does windows recgonise the disk, if it does ill send you an app to get all your data back

 

if the hd is connected windows will only start 1 out of 10 and will normally freeze within 10mins, you can here it clicking away

do you have another hard drive to out in your pc

 

yes thats just our storage hd our main one is the one with vista on it etc

If all else fails get another HD set up and then use the old one as a slave you should then be able to access it from the new HD?
