Hi All,

One of the (many) things keeping me from getting the ZX back on the road is the current lack of a sound system. I already have a Kenwood head unit, and a reasonable sized amp. I have also sorted out the wiring to go under the carpets to the boot, and also the power lead though the inner wing and into boot too.

What I need to do now is get rid of those black BOSE boxes front and rear, and install some new speakers, as well as getting hold of a boot install that RETAINS THE CAPABILITY OF STORING THE TARGA ROOFS.

I'm not after a set-up that sounds like the Albert Hall, or one that could knock it down with the out-put. Just something that makes a half decent noise on the odd occasion that I get fed up listening to the V6 roar.

I've done a couple of searches, but not come up with a step-by-step of how to make a new set of speakers fit in the hole left by the black boxes, or what to put in there to fix them to, or what shape/dimensions it should be.

Any suggestions? And, is anyone getting rid of their old boot install to fit something wilder, and wants to sell? (I'll post in 'Items Wanted' too.)

Thanks!! :)

I have made a few pairs of mounts in the past for other members.

If you have access to a Mig welder you can fit 6x9's in the strut mounts where the old speakers were by modifiing the existing mounts.

Unfortunatley I don't have any pictures.

There's a number of members on here that have done custom boost installs. From subtle to extreme.

This was one of mine, still able to fit the targa's, 6x9's in the original position and 4 10" subs. With an amp rack made of ply and perspex.

then I ditched that and went for something a little more "fitting".

Don't throw the Bose speaker boxes away. Whilst you can fit different brackets for other speakers, the original speaker boxes are pretty sturdy. Gut those, soundproof them a bit and fit replacement speakers.
