I am gonna sell my anoying Smart Car as the MPG is crap and it is dangerouse on the motorways, i want to fund a trike project im doing with some of the money.

 

Should get around 4k for it, so looking for a daily driver at around 2k, and spotted a little hard top Eunos Roadster for £1800. But i've always considered these ......'gay'

 

However with a hard top it seamed more appealing, ami loosing it??

 

They are sopposed tio be great handling and it's so light the 1.6 should give good performance and fuel econamy?

Bloke I play rugby with drives a MX5 convertible. He's 6' 4", 18st and fits in it ok. However, he does look a bit...........odd driving it and it wouldn't be a car I would choose for myself.

Lol - I actually had a black 1.8iS Eunos Roadster and I loved it. Mazdaspeed alloys, lip spoiler (which EVERY MX5 should have - they look unfinished at the front without it IMHO), Bilstein coilovers, strut brace, Nardi & Momo bits inside and about 180bhp... was the best road legal go-kart ever...

 

...although certain people at work thought I looked like Noddy as I'm 6'3" and 17st. :slap: But sod em - I liked it :p

I think the MK1 MX-5s yes, anything newer, NO. The old ones almost have a retro-esque feel to them, many are stripped out and tracked now. They have always been known as a good driver's car and one of the few convertibles....I prefer the term roadsters, that are actually old and raw enough to be driven by blokes.

 

The MK2s looked a little bit girly and the new ones look like cheap kit cars from the front. Not nice.

And your worried about getting an MX-5 surely that is an upgrade in everyway including bloke-iness, i agree the newer ones aren't as good looking but anything has to be better and less feminine than a smart! :smash:

MAC1 one had one of these, and I was amazed at how much room is in them when I had a spin. good cars IMO. I looked at some on the MX5 NUTZ Stand at JAE, Very nice. Not girly at all IMO. Mujina also has a couple, one of which I think he used to race.

I have just been shopping and on the raod saw a nice gold MX5 with a bloke driving it. Did it make him look gay?............No not in the least.

The MX5 has been billed as the spiritual successor to the MGB Roadster and they weren't gay........;)

 

IMO if it's the right colour (like black) with nice trim and a few subtle mods like some of Si's pictures then I think it's fine. But you must have the bigger engined faster one, not the limp wristed 1.6:p

 

Mk1 cars are probably the best looking but I don't mind the Mk2 - in the right colour they can (read can not do) look like a smaller XK8. Not a bad thing.....

 

........The Mk3 looks shite, rather like an up-turned boat! And anyway the new MR-2 is the real gay car:o

 

So go for it, they are good cars and you won't look gay. Honest......
